This is nearly an outrage! i can't stand that people use their own interpretation to justify something! the only one who has the right to condemn a man to death is god himself... death sentencing should have been vanquished 20 years ago... but, i guess we don't live in a perfect world...

[QUOTE="efrucht"]Different time scales. Their year is not our year. At least, I hope so. If not, god needs to fess up on why human lives are now so short.Huell_HowserThe problem with this explanation is that the Bible also provides the ages of these individuals when they had their children. If using the explanations already mentioned about their years being based on the lunar month, Adam would have been five when he fathered Seth. Also, the ages can't correspond to clans because the genealogy in Genesis 5 clearly refers to the ages of individuals rather than clans or tribes. amen brother :P just my thought

In the book of Genesis in chapter 5- Generations: Adam to Noah, it says that Adam lived 930 years and many other of his descendents lived hundreds of years. I'm just curious about this because today the oldest person is probably like 120. Were there years shorter back then so really they had a similar life span to us or did they really live that much longer than us?

the reason why adam lived so long is because he once was perfect, but becuase of the loss of his perfection his descendants lifespan was gradually shortened to the resulting 70-80 years we live today. its worth noticing that in our entire life our brain is only filled up with a very small amount of information in comparison to the max cap we have... wich could point to we were actually designed to live for a longer time then we do now... BTW im not catholic :PI am and I gave him the answer. does that mean im wrong your right? sad...the reason why adam lived so long is because he once was perfect, but becuase of the loss of his perfection his descendants lifespan was gradually shortened to the resulting 70-80 years we live today. its worth noticing that in our entire life our brain is only filled up with a very small amount of information in comparison to the max cap we have... wich could point to we were actually designed to live for a longer time then we do now...
