@Maxx_the_Slash We have no idea whether or not the Microsoft versions of Destiny will have exclusive content. It is possible to provide unique content to both. Judging by past history this may well just be cosmetic stuff anyway.
I wonder if this is good or bad news for Beyond Good & Evil 2. If this is true, and if that game stays at Ubisoft it is all but doomed, as I believe Ancel was the driving force behind it. If however he leaves and gets to take the IP with him... could be the start of something wonderful.
@CP2077 @emperiox @jenovaschilld That statistic does not hold up. Per capita we have less gun violence in the US than many other places in the world that have much stricter gun control laws. I'm not condoning it. I think we do need better control laws and a better enforcement of the ones we have.
Just wanted to make the point that equal doesn't necessarily imply identical. Male and female gamers are different, but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy the same types of games. I don't really understand the folks who feel that having more female characters will somehow take something away from them.
Having the 'option' of a female protagonist will likely appeal to more gamers of both genders. That's usually more expensive, but they pulled it off in Mass Effect, so it's certainly doable. And even if there are more games with female-only protagonists there will still be far more with male ones. We're not asking for equity in numbers, just more.
And while some male developers create really good, balanced, female characters, it would help if there were more female designers providing input and insight into this issue as well as game design in general. Every time I see a photo of a design team where 90-100% of the designers are male I feel a little let down. Okay the onus is perhaps on more women choosing to work in the game design industry, but I think you can understand that working in such a male dominated industry has its challenges. Still, we have to start somewhere.
