I may not agree with your article but I like it's intent. You humanized the idea of virtual deaths. Then you lost me when... 6,328? That's the number you think about most? How about 100,000+ (Iraq alone)? I wrote plus because at that scale single digits count for less. I can't believe I read your entire article and have not found a single sympathetic thought towards civilian deaths. What about the lack of portrayal of the cost of war in video games? Yes, soldiers die. It is without a doubt heartbreaking... but soldiers make war and death is a consequence. That is what they are trained for and it is a possibility they must accept. But what about the father on his way to buy milk then steps on a land mine? Or the children playing soccer on a dirt field when a fire fight ensues around them? Why are they not portrayed in war games? You use the word patriotic as a conduit for distress at the loss of countrymen. In the context you used it, it is an ugly word, used to hide from feeling anything for the foreign lives lost. As if only U.S. soldiers' lives are worth your grief. Shame on you Jason Wilson. This is by far the worst article I have ever seen on my favorite gaming website.
