@pelvist I also preferred Q3 Arena over the original Unreal Tournament because of its gorgeus visuals and learning curve which was way higher when you took advantage of the refresh rate, config settings and moved around the map with circle strafe jumps defying the game physics. Awesome!! I missed those duels in Q3DM6 with the OSP mod and those team deathmatches in Rocket Arena. Very funny years where these duel FPS rule the entire internet multiplayer scene.
Unreal Tournament 2004 was the best UT so far. It made the gameplay very solid and balanced. Some lousy weapons in UT2003 were tweaked and made very essential. Now you felt the need to carry all the guns for specific kill purposes. With the apropiate mods UT2k4 was a very competitive game

I'm hoping that the duel FPS games rule again. Everything became MMORPG and vehicles team deathmatch

And once again the Xbox 360 version will look sharper and play smoother than PS3's. Just to let clear who is the DEFINITIVE WINNER of this videogame console generation :)

Seems Im the second person here that thinks that AH wasn't that bad...I do like the more serious world setting and real plane likeness tha Assault Horizon offers since I've always liked aircraft simulation and AH was the closest thing in a console. The only problem I found is with the controls with didnt allow you to roll the plane freely . Thankfully this option could be disabled lster in the options menu. The helicopters missions were just awful and AC series must focus in fixedbwing fighters only

When we played Mario 64 back in its release days we were totally shocked! Graphics were just awesome and the gameplay was in a different level we were used to thanks to the leap to 3d Graphics. No one can deny that thanks to polygons we were part of a revolution that we still enjoy. 3D platforming and open worlds adventures. Side quests and a required higher skill to beat these games.

If somebody, who hasn't ever played Mario 64, plays today one can be sure that the old graphics effects and primitive platforming gameplay would turn him off. When a game is asessed graphics takes an important protion of its score. Therefore, If Mario 64 were a recently released game it wouldn´t score 10 out of 10 how it did back in 1996

remember guys:

Even gameplay gets outdated!. Graphics, Sound design and gameplay need to evolve as well.

Chrono Trigger had the best graphics sprites could pull off at that time. Limbo had great graphics in spite of its simplicity in level design yet it has a great gameplay. Sometimes people believe that great graphics are 3D stuff only.

When it´s about realistic and inmersive games, graphics may be up to a 60%. Of course they´re not important in strategy, some platform or puzzle games.

I remember how impressed I was even in the 2D sprites era when in Batman Returns game you could throw your enemies against the stores and shatter the glasses. Wow! that was a merely cosmetic feature that had no precedents yet it extended the combat mechanics boosting the gameplay experience!

It´s a huge mistake saying Graphics doesn´t matter.

@Flexanite @7rooper Not even by its release time a PS4 will have more processing power than a High end PC. Yet PS4 has awesome exclusives...

I'm pretty sure PS4 will be a great machine but if it'd had a Nvidia GPU all games running Unreal Engine 4 would benefit greatly. We must remember that Epic Games is a Nvidia Partner as many other big brands developing game engines.
