I don't know about yous.. But I'll go with what he said.

Meh. I can cook my own food, and the sex is what prostitutes are for.

Can anyone say...."S.T.D's"? LOL

Say it? I can't even spell it!

Seriously though the best thing on earth is definitely this plum. It's guaranteed to put smile on my face.

This may sound a bit obvious but every scale has to have a top and a bottom. I think that if it is the best game around then it's worthy of a 10. Saying, "I would never rate a game as 10/10" makes any scale you are trying to use pretty meaningless.

It might be more difficult to achieve a 10 when it is a 100 hundred point scale like the old Gamespot system but it shouldn't be unobtainable.

The bit in Resident Evil 2 in the police interview room made me jump out of my seat as did the man in the oven in Resident Evil 4.

Also, I was pretty spooked by Doom 3 as well. The bit where you go into some control room and one of those giant four-legged beasts starts battering the door down gave me a total panic moment.

However, the most scary moment was the first few marine levels on Aliens vs Predator. The first time that the motion detector started beating had my pulse racing. As it turned out I spent the first 30 minutes approaching a lift!

I 100% agree with all the boss-related gripes given above.

I would like to add non-sensical barriers (why can't my elite squad of soldiers step over a line of foot-high cardboard boxes?) and cut scenes where the hero does something he can't do in the game itself like in Devil May Cry where Dante gets impaled, then laughs and pulls the sword out. In the game proper, he drops after a few swipes with a pointy stick!

That is such a good question! I never really thought about it before but like those above, I always thought that the 'boss' of a level was kind of in charge of the lesser enemies hence the boss.

My alternative suggestion is Endbaddie.... sorry that's rubbish. How about ubernasty? Biggiebaddie? Superenemy.....? Nah, boss is just too good.

A few spring to mind

- Dark Water (the original) you know what bit I mean

- The Shining when the bartender appears, from that moment you know that boy is a certified mental

- Infernal Affairs.... all of it

A couple of weeks ago, one of the biggest language schools and employers of foreigners in Japan closed leaving staff and instructors unpaid and out of work. As an ex-Nova employee of a few years back, I wondered if there was anybody else out there who had memories of their ridiculous business practices, outrageous sales pitches and downright lies.

From personal experience, having a student fall asleep during a man-to-man lesson and leaving it ten minutes before waking them was a personal favourite as was causing as much disruption as possible by playing football in the reception area in an attempt to get myself off the kids lessons list. It didn't work.

Anybody else?

Good question. In truth it was probably Doom but the first 3D "wow" moment was probably the first Tomb Raider. Running around the caves and knowing that those platforms and walls around me weren't just there as scenery or to keep me on the path but were actually part of the level itself.

Although a bit rough around the edges, that game had a great sense of scale and I feel it is very underrated and influential.

I don't think that's it because it didn't seem totally random but thanks for trying. I recognised the username the message was from and the title of the PM was something about my avatar. I should have opened it at the time.... Oh well

I had a new message in my inbox a few days ago but I didn't read it. When I came to read it the next day it had disappeared! I left it for a while thinking it was a glitch but it hasn't come back. I didn't think it was possible to retract PMs (although I may be wrong) so could you please help me retrieve my message (or any others I may have received)

Thanks

Ps. I know there is a thread about PMs already but this seemed slightly different to the blank PM issue in that thread.
