Jud0ka You're wrong about the electromagnetic spectrum. It goes Infa-red, then visible light, then Ultra-violet, this means that violet/blue is much higher up.. DVD drives use a red light lazer to read discs, blu-ray use blue, which is why the time delay from disc to reading is shortened significantly, so it is possible to put more 'notches' (1s and 0s) on the disc, which means more storage and space, and SPEED. you're also wrong about MGS4 being not compressed. The sound and voice files were compressed because they were too big for the disc.. this acutally became big news and stated that Hiedo was disappointed by this. Blu-ray is the better medium for media and files now, everything will slowly move over to it, HD-DVD was ok, but it lacked in potential.

Strigidae, Have you experiecned blu-ray? Many people who bash it haven't even seen a game or film on Blu-ray. It's seriously mindblowing. The disc doesn't just produce 'a clearer picture', it provides much more detail, precision, speed and power, all in the picture. The disc also incorporates sound, which is much better than DVD, more crisp etc.. The more storage, is much better for games. You stated earlier that you wanted MGS4 on the 360? MGS4 uses 50gb of one blu-ray disc, thats teh full disc, dual layered. DVDs use approximatley 4gb (correct me if im wrong) Obviously anyone with some maths skills can see that its close to impossible to port the game to the 360, you would get major issues. Blu-ray is considered bad, expensive and not worth it by some xbots, but you have to experience it first, and it definatley proves them wrong.

@Strigidae I sorta agree. Developers should definatley think about other consoles while making a game. They tend to just make the game to xbox standards, then port it to the PS3. This gives tear and graphical glitches within teh textures once ported. Of course, many people would love to see MGS4 or Uncharted on Xbox, But these are very big games. They would need their graphics, and maybe even some gameplay trimmed to fit with standards. Same with Wii, and the like. If developers, created a game. Brought it out, made it all nice and shiny for any console, then ported it.. but then PATCHED each console with enough patching to make the game work as if its running specifically for the particular console, we would all see a difference.

@ strigidae. I agree with your frustrations over the price. But you have to understand what the PS3 contains.. Obviously the blu-ray player is going to cost money. The PS3 is only about £300 (dunno what in USD) But that's not a massive amount of money at all. Its about as much as a low-end HDTV.. if you have the money to buy that, then you have the money for a PS3. Besides, it has been a part of the console war for ages, but if you were to incorporate all of PS3 functions into the 360, it would actually cost more than just buying the PS3 itself. Cost should not be a factor in the console war, it's about the consoles, and I believe that people who pick at the prices are desperatley looking for bad things. DarkPhoenix

To be honest, I find this a terrible article. I mean, the console war is just a bunch of fanboys trying to say "I'm better than you". For a website to promote the war with stuff like this, it's stupid. They both looked great in my opinion, hardly any difference between. Xbox looked significantly better on the Fallout 3 screens.. But I think the PS3 shots of Dead Space, and Soul Calibur looked much better. The only way to get a perfect graphics comparison is for the game to be made twice, for both consoles, as if it were an exclusive to both. Because of porting, images get distorted.
