Everything you expect in a mystery adventure game, topped off with excellent puzzle integration.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is sort of a new genre of game. It's an adventure style game whose story revolves around a mysterious town and it's inhabitants. However, it ingeniously integrates puzzles to progress the story. Although some puzzles can be difficult, if you wholeheartedly consider them, the solution appears. The simple control scheme allows for easy travelling through the villages many areas. As well, the extras available are decent, although some puzzles in the extras section can just be grueling. The weekly Nintendo WFC Download-able puzzles are also a great idea and are well implemented. The protagonist, Hershel Layton, and his brown-nosing "apprentice", Luke, are sent through a twisting plot to find the Golden Apple, a massive treasure everyone's been searching for. As well, the graphical style of the game is captivating, and some of the character's are easy to love. So, if you like puzzles and love mystery in your adventure games, Professor Layton is for you. And if not, play it anyways, it's a game to remember.
