A good football game but a lack of new features and ridiculous AI make this a broken game...

Where do we start...

Fans of football games will on doubt get on with Pro Evolution 2009 as it is, in fairness the same as every other football game on the planet.

Visually it looks great and the control interface is spot on however it is harbouring alot of glitches...

The audio is as bad as every other commentary based game. Repetetive, inaccurate and downright annoying. The commentator makes alot of mistakes and repeats the same statement several times in a match but I don't think there is a game on this planet with good sports commentary.

The AI is the biggest let down in my eyes. It's not bad...its ridiculous. When playing 1 player your AI controlled team mates make no attempt to get in space, support you or tackle the opponent. They usually just stand around with black expressions on there face and run BEHIND you to support an attack. When they're not doing that they're standing next to opponents defenders ensuring they are completely unavailable for a pass. Your goalkeeper 'George A Butterfingers' also seems to like punching the ball instead of catching it and watching goals roll past his leg if he doesn't really feel like making an attempt to save it...top man.

The new 'Legend' mode is quite poor as well. A good idea in thoery but executed with neotlithic incompetence. You control (1) player of an entire team and spend most of the game running around hoping you get passed to while all the while dealing with a ridiculous camera angle to accommodate for your players field on availability. I'm not quite sure why you can't play as the whole team and simply incorporate your players stats into focus...

In a nutshell...yes it's a good fun game but even after 10+ years of developing 'realistic' football games they still fall well short thanks to brainless AI and commentators with Alzheimer's. Pity :(
