Warrior within is a near perfect game( the in game unlockable dude's commentary really put it in perspective for me) except for some serious fallbacks that are made up for with the awesomeness of the rest of the game. Combat is fun in a very brutal AND acrobatic way. Shocking, as these 2 usually do not go hand in hand. Combat will make you adjust to it really fast, as the game counts every single button you hit(almost to a fault). You know how in other games you jam the right button in a combo until you can use the next move? Well, you can't do that in this game or you'll miss your desired attack. You'll get it quick enough, but it's a noticeable and welcomed difference. Anyway, the free form fighting system isn't actually as cool as it sounds. Although the fighting is very good, I was mislead to believe that you could literally invent a style or format for your buttons to use certain moves only useable in that style(like in Devil May Cry or using an alternate character)but really the move system is so diverse that it SEEMS like you can do this. Not really a problem, but something that bugged me. When you get down to it, everything in this game is cool. The story, fighting, weapons, characters, platforming, graphics, sound, everything is great save for a few serious flaws.
1. Iminent death. Sometimes a ledge looks existent and that is what you have to jump to but isn't there causing you to die or waste sand. Or, sometimes during combat, when you're surrounded, you can basically block or try to jump. Either might be a bad idea. Irritating thing is , you can't walk out of a crowd. I don't mean literally, but you can't go through the small gaps between enemies, making you effectively screwed.2. Puzzles that require sand with no definite way to get it back. You can fail a couple times, but after a couple tries, you can only just kill yourself because you can no longer complete the challenge as you have no sand to use. Very aggravating. There are a couple of other problems if you're picky, but they don't really matter. Other than those problems, I highly recommend this game. 9.5 out of 10
