while it may not be an exceptional video game, primal IS a beautiful, exceptionally well written and voiced interactive story. and for those who, like me, are eager to see the lines blurred between film and game its cinematic presentation is another step toward that reality. where the getaway's attempt felt a little inelegant, primal's no-hud, widescreen, in-engine cinemas delivery is much more transparent, and immersive. and though i won't argue with the criticism that primal is a bit underdeveloped in actual gameplay i will whole-heartedly recommend it as a well-crafted piece of very engaging entertainment. note: one of my filters for deciding a game's purchase-worthiness is a score of 8.5 or higher from not only gamespot, but metacritic as well... i ignored that filter and went with my gut on primal and am very glad i did. it would have been a shame to have missed it.
