A fresh, exciting online game that has amazingly fun gameplay but feels incomplete and lacks content.

User Rating: 7.5 | Primal Carnage PC
Before I get into the review let me just say that I love dinosaurs, so I may be slightly biased.

When I first heard of this game I was excited. Finally a well made dinosaur game where you can actually be a dinosaur! You can be a dinosaur, team up with other dinos and fight other players playing as humans! Such a great idea for a game and the indie game company Lukewarm media pulls it off.

The game play is the biggest strength for sure (which a game's strength should be). As of now there are 10 classes in the game. 5 dinosaurs and 5 human classes. Dinosaurs have (excuse the spelling) Pteranodon, Carnotoraus, T-rex, Dilophosarus, Velociraptor. Humans include: Commando, Pyro, Pathfinder, Sniper and Trapper. I won't get into detail on all the specific classes, just know that every class plays well and the game is surprisingly balanced. Obviously the T-rex has a significant advantage but this is balanced with a limit on how many players can play as him. Anyway rarely ever does it feel like the dinosaurs are too powerful or the humans are too powerful. Chances are if your team is losing bad it's because they don't know how to play. The dinosaurs play extremely well and every class is a blast to play. The humans are no where near as fun as the dinosaurs. The human gameplay is at best a mediocre first person shooter. It is still fun though, it's just nothing amazing. It does sometimes feel like a chore playing as the humans, like I'm just waiting until I can be a dinosaur again. I am not saying humans aren't fun, it's just that dinosaurs are a lot MORE fun. The dinosaurs control very well.

The graphics are great. Not amazing but great. Game runs smoothly on high settings on my medium end PC. Good ragdoll physics. Overall very nice graphics, would give them an 8/10.

The sounds are good I guess. Everything sounds as it should. My only small gripe is I think the T-rex should have louder footsteps and maybe a louder roar. The issue being that sometimes I will turn around or get eaten from behind by a T-rex without having any clue it's behind me. You think you would hear a 10 ton dinosaur walking up behind you.

So as you may of guessed from the review headline, the biggest downfall of the game is that it's incomplete! You literally cannot change maps unless you leave and join another server with the map you want to play on. There is no ranks, literally no incentive to keep playing other then pure enjoyment for the game. There is no indicator if someone has just chatted in teamspeak or to everyone. There is only ONE GAME MODE, deathmatch. There is only about 5 maps. For these reasons the game feels very incomplete. I feel like im playing a beta for a game yet to be released. That being said the game IS only $15. But still $15 for a game on steam you would expect to be receiving a finished game. I have ignored the lack of content from the score I have given this game. If I were to include the fact this game is unfinished and lacks content, it would be 6.5. It's a shame because the game itself is actually quite good.
I honestly love it. For $15 it is a great little game to play around in when you're bored. Lot's of funny, intense moments surviving dino attacks or attacking humans. If you like dinosaurs this game is a must own, If you don't especially like dinosaurs you may infact still like this game as it is very well made. You just may be disappointed by the lack of content.
I should mention as well that Lukewarm media is actually planning on continually updating the game and adding more content (which is why I have not included the lack of content into the score of 7.5).
