Unique blend of strategy and old school RPG in the combat system. Good story. All around enjoyable.

After waiting for what seems an eternity for a good RPG on PSP I finally get one. It's not going to revolutionize the RPG genre, but it is a quality all-around game that will give PSP owners something to keep them busy.

Graphically this game is amazing. The environments are very detailed. The game has a very laid-back, bright style which matches the story and dialogue perfectly.

The loading takes a little getting used to but it is implemented quite well. The "burst loading" system loads in small increments when it needs to, instead of large blocks that give you enough time to take a bathroom break and leave your PSP sitting in another room. You get about 3-4 second blips right before battles, story sequences, and map changes. This also conserves battery life during long sessions.

The combat system is very well done. The battles take place on grids similar to those of a strategy RPG, but feel like a traditional RPG. You get an activity bar and when it's full you take a turn. You move to the enemy and smack 'em or you also have special abilities that can be used and have a variety of ranges. The best part of this system is that the grid squares are actually smaller that the characters. If enemies are positioned right you can hit mulitples with even a basic sword swing.

All in all I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a quality RPG to play on the go. I've seen much worse, much much worse, RPG's on full consoles.
