Great game, but too similar to Ruby and Sapphire.

After Gold and Silver, Crystal was released. Two years later, Generation III had it's start with Ruby and Sapphire. While Ruby and Sapphire went through lots of criticism for many things, Nintendo still decided to create a third game to sit with Ruby and Sapphire: Pokemon Emerald. Emerald is a great game, but shares too many similarities with Ruby and Sapphire.

The gameplay is the same old, same old. It stills manages to stay fun. This time around, it is just better to look at than Gold/Silver/Crystal. Which gives more atmosphere and a better feel. They carried over new legendaries (you can get both Groudon and Kyogre, not just Rayquaza) for more challenges in catching Pokemon.
The graphics are less plain, and is really detailed. The sprites are more complex. Asides from that, there isn't too much else about the graphics.
The music is great. The music sounds less "pixelated" and more modern. There is a variety of songs in the game. Ranging from the ordinary Wild Pokemon Battle, all the way to the Champion. The sounds are a different story. The sounds do become annoying, and the cries are still sounding too pixelated.
The replay value in this game is considerably higher than in Ruby and Sapphire, with the all-new Battle Frontier, and the opportunity to re-challenge Gym Leaders.
In conclusion, it's uninspired, but a game worth checking out.
