If you remember Tetris Attack, you'll love this. If not, this is a new challenge you'll find to be addictive.

Pokemon Puzzle League isn't just another spinoff of the Pokemon series. It is, in fact, based on the original japanese hit Panel de Pon. This game is exactly like Tetris Attack, the Yoshi based game, that released back on the SNES and the newer version, Planet Puzzle League.

Single-player mode is basic: beat everyone. It's arcade-styled and you just face computer opponents, so it's nothing special. There's also a puzzle mode where you get a certain amount of block-moves and you have to clear all the blocks on the screen within that move limit. It's addictive and keeps you thinking. Multiplayer, on the other hand, is quite addictive. My girlfriend and I play against eachother constantly.

The graphics are pretty simple and mostly 2D. In this version, however, there is a 3D mode, which is the same as 2D mode except you have a rotating cylinder of blocks instead of just a flat plane. This mode can cause a slight frame-rate drop because of all the action happening at the same time. It does, however, force you to think more about your moves because you have at least 3x more blocks to consider.

The sound and music are very pleasing to the ear. This game actually uses its license well by taking voices of the characters from the actual show, and putting them to use on the characters in the game. There's actually music from the show in the game and even a cartoon clip, too!

Overall, the gameplay is a little shallow it has really great multiplayer mode, and the puzzle mode will keep you coming back until you finally beat all the puzzles.
