A solid MMOFPS with lots to do

User Rating: 8.5 | PlanetSide 2 PC
The first thing that I'll say about Planetside 2 is that it will take a lot of time before you unlock the weapons and the vehicle upgrades that you want. Of course this isn't a problem if you're willing to spend money on the game.

That being said, the Free 2 play model that's used is one of the best I've seen so far. The player isn't being forced to buy anything, you can manage just fine without spending a single buck for anything.

I'll give a point by point description about every aspect of the game.

Graphics: 9/10

If you're looking for a beautiful game that makes mass warfare look amazing, then look no further, the enormous battles that take place in Planetside 2 look gorgeous with bullets and cannon shells flying everywhere. The lighting in the game looks great when it's night and you actually feel like you're in the middle of a big war. Even though it can look amazing, you will need a good computer to run everything on max settings, cause a big battle will take a lot out of your computer to run everything smooth.

Gameplay: 8/10

Planetside 2 has great gameplay, it's all about working together with a big squad and trying to devastate the enemy by taking their bases. Once you've taken enough bases around a tactical point, you can try and take a big base with help of a large squad. These fights are usually very intense and can go on for a long time.

Another good thing about the gameplay is that it has a lot of variation. You can use aircraft to fly, mount base guns to defend against tanks, join a squad and try to infiltrate enemy bases, etc...
You will mostly have the option to play as you like, if you want to be in a tank all day, the game lets you do just that. The only problem is, is that if your tank gets destroyed, you will have to wait for a while before you can spawn another one again. This is for balancing reasons, as it won't be really fair if people had the power to spawn one tank after another.

Sound: 8.5/10
There's not much to say about this, the game itself sounds great. Especially during huge battles you'll have the feeling that a million people are shooting at eachother.

Class system: 9/10

I will have to note that Planetside 2 works with a class sytem. You can choose between multiple classes that you think works best for you. The classes are Infiltrator, Light Assault, Combat medic, Engineer, Heavy Assault and MAX. This might be your thing, if you enjoyed games like Wolfenstein Enemy territory or Battlefield.
A good thing that Planetside 2 has done, is that playing an Engineer or Combat Medic doesn't make you useless while fighting. You're not the little girl that tries to heal everybody behind a corner or repair tanks without shooting a single person. It doesn't matter which class you are, you can always kill an enemy and you will have no problem killing people when you're a "Support Class".

The only downside to the class system, is that it might force you into a role, which some people won't like. If you're a heavy assault, you won't be able to heal team mates or repair tanks. If you're looking for a game where you can do everything yourself, then you might want to look for something else.

Anti cheat: 4/10

This is where the biggest flaw of the game is found. There are a lot of hackers in Planetside 2. At first you might not notice it, but the more time you put into this game, the more you will see that a lot of people have aimbot or esp. The developers are trying to come up with a solution to this problem, but from experience with other games, the hacking problem will stay the same. This might be a big turn off for you, but I can assure you, that you will have a lot of fun in this game if you dig the things I described above.

Overall, the game looks and feels amazing, especially if you enjoy mass warfare. I must say the game isn't for everyone, as it will take some time to get used to.
