When i found out that a new PSO episode was coming out i was really happy that they decied to do another episode but to my surpirsed this time the battle system was going to be different it was going to be a card based battle game this time. At first i was a little underwhemled i dont really like when action games or rpg games decide to do a card verison instead of just sticking to its roots. But I decied to give the game a change this was PSO after all im sure sonic team would make it work. When i got the game and started playing i was a little underwhemled at first the card battle system takes a while to learn to use i had no idea what i was doing for my first fight i just kept clicking any thing after a few minutes i decied to turn off my gamecube and take a break from it for a bit to clear my head. After a hour break or so i started playing again and after like half a hour or so i started to get the hang of the card batte system hey i was started to have fun. It takes like a good hour and a half or 2 hours or so to really get to understand the card system but once you do this game is really fun. The level design of the game is pretty much the same as the past PSO games the monster designs look the same as the others which is a good thing the graphics are fine just the way they are. You dont get to travel this time on foot through ragol though which is a downside if you liked exploreing the levels this time you take orders from your commander oh yea there are 2 sides this time to the game the Heroes side the people who still take orders from the commander or the new side the Arkz a evil side who are trying to take control of the pioneer. Anyhow where was I oh yes this time you take orders dircectly from your command for the hero side or your command from the arkz side and then you use a transporter to transport you to the stage. Before you transport you can organize you currect deck to add or take out cards what ever works best for you. The level designs of the stages you fight in are nice to look at and this game also has a great soundtrack (as expected from a PSO game). The stages you fight in goes really well with the music it makes the fights very exciting and more enjoyable after you win the fight and after you claer the stage and every thing you get like a pack of cards which you can use to improve your deck some stages if you use the specific charcter you get a nice little comic book like CS. As you go thorugh the story line you get new cards for all your won battles and it gets alot more fun as you improve your deck with the best cards. The online for this game requires you to pay a monthly fee every month the cool thing about this one is you can use your PSO charcter from PSO Episode 1 and 2 and walk around in the lobby with it. Over all this is a pretty good game with some new cool looking charcters to look at nice stage designs great soundtrack and those same good old fashiob PSO graphics. You just need to give the new card battle system a change and once you get the hang of it this game is really enjoyable to play just like the past PSO games only with a new battle system but still enjoyable.
