Amazing game; very fun and gripping, but it is slightly bent by annoying bugs.

User Rating: 9.5 | Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie GC
I grew up with my Gamecube. Over that time, I have expanded my game collection to 35+ games. out of all my games, this one is one of my favorites, kind of tying with Turok: Evolution, but anyways, I'll cut to the chase.

King Kong is a great game. It is strongly based on the movie (duhhh.), the story is mostly the same as in the movie. In case you don't know, It is about an expedition led by movie producer Carl Denham, determined to find the legendary --and mysterious-- Skull island. Little do they know the horror that awaits them: a primeval island infested by dinosaurs and hostile natives. Worse still, they encounter a giant gorilla, which the natives call Kong. The lead female actress, Ann Darrow, is offered up as a sacrifice by the natives to Kong, but eventually, instead of eating her, Kong falls in love with her. 'Cuz she's hot. At least as far as Computer Generated Characters go. Uhh... Ahem...

Anyways... the game has 2 playable characters: Jack Driscoll and Kong. When you play as Jack, you are playing in first person shooter format. There is a wide variety of weapons to use, from the primitive Spear to the more modern Thompson. You mostly fight dinosaurs, bats, and insects, and gameplay is mostly the same throughout the game, but the levels are different enough to prevent boredom.

Playing as Kong is a totally different experience than playing as Jack. instead it is in 3rd (I think) person. There are no weapons, except for your brute strength. The experience is mind-blowing. You can pick up huge pillars and hurl them at dinosaurs, you can pick dinosaurs or bats and throw them, climb up walls and buildings, and similar ideas. Most of the time, when you are Kong, your mission is to save/help Ann. There are less Kong levels than there are Jack levels, which is unfortunate because the Kong levels, in my opinion, are much better than Jack levels.

Finally, there are the glitches. There are a lot of glitches. Sometimes, mostly randomly, the game will freeze and will make a continuous long beep. The only solution, as far as I know, is to simply restart the Gamecube. other glitches are when characters that are supposed to move, do not move when they are supposed to. Just today i was playing and a raptor was standing on a cliff, just standing there. I shot it, threw spears at it, anything, and it still just stood there.

There are lots of other glitches too, like when I threw a spear, and it just floated in the air.

To sum it up, King Kong is a wonderful game. Although there are a lot of bugs, they are easy to ignore.
