Strategy specialists Paradox Interactive today announced Diplomacy for the PC. Based on the popular board game of the same name, the game will feature classic gameplay from the tabletop version as well as enhanced game features to give the title a modern feel. Diplomacy will be available in Q4 of 2005.

"We are all huge fans of the original board game Diplomacy and want to stay true to the identity and feel that makes the game so unique," says Fredrik Lindgren, director of marketing and sales at Paradox Interactive. "At the same time the vision and ideas we are working on are strong enough to bring Diplomacy into the new millennium, which will most definitely attract a new generation of players as well as the true Diplomacy veterans."

Diplomacy was previously made into a PC game in 1999 by now-defunct Hasbro Interactive. However, the effort was met with poor reviews.

GameSpot will have more on Paradox Interactive's Diplomacy soon.
