GSC Game World has today released new information on Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars for the PC. The sequel to Cossacks: European Wars, the game focuses on the military and political events that shaped the future of Europe in the 19th century.

It's been revealed today that Cossacks II: Napoleonic War will feature six playable nations--as opposed to 10, as was originally announced--and that there will be more than 150 different unit types and 180 building types in the game. The six playable nations in the game, according to today's announcement, will be France, Britain, Austria, Russia, Prussia, and Egypt. The emphasis in the game will be on epic battles between well organized armies, and up to 64,000 units in various combat formations will be supported on a map at any one time.

The AI in Cossacks II will boast a number of improvements on that of the original game, and in addition to enhancing the pathfinding and formation functionalities, the improvements have allowed GSC to incorporate the option for players to stage historical battles against the computer.

Cossacks II: Napoleonic War is currently scheduled for release later this year. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
