Bethesda Softworks has posted a new Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon designer diary on the official Web site. The latest entry is titled "Dunces With Wolves" and is written by the designer of the upcoming expansion pack, Mark Nelson. In the piece, Nelson relates how the idea for Bloodmoon came about and how the new werewolf class will be integrated into the game. The diary takes note of some of the difficulties involved in creating separate quests for normal characters and werewolf characters. Nelson also relates a design decision regarding how nonplayer characters should react to werewolves, noting, "NPCs will only react negatively to a player who actually changes to or from werewolf form in front of them. This allows players to truly role-play a werewolf character-hero by day, monster by night. The careful player can still complete every quest in the game, and he can still spend half his time terrorizing the populace."

The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon is an upcoming expansion pack to Bethesda's extensive role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. In Bloodmoon, players explore a town terrorized by werewolves and will eventually choose to become a werewolf and join their cause or take the side of the townspeople and attempt to exterminate the werewolves.
