"I saw dozens of happy nerds, at peace with themselves and each other, knowing that they had found a place where the things that had once rendered them different and strange now made them completely and forever, at home" ... great keynote!

Most times I probably would, but thats whats great about people, were all different and were not all thinking about the same things at the same time.

  • jeffkretz

    Posted Sep 4, 2008 9:58 am PT

@Telekenesis123 - Yeah, but a 30 minute speech where maybe a few seconds total is talking about being Jewish. So somehow this tiny 0.08% of his speech bothered you SO MUCH you had to slam him for it, ignoring all the great parts.

Personally, the speech, the stories, the message, was funny, well-written and heartfelt. It's a shame that you weren't moved to comment about the great parts instead.

  • GunnyHath

    Posted Sep 4, 2008 9:26 am PT

That was hilarious and completely unexpected!

  • Telekenesis123

    Posted Sep 4, 2008 9:19 am PT

It was a good speech and it was funny and it also made me think of a few things about Bioshock, so what? Thats my prerogative and right, I can comment if I want.

And btw juts because your Jewish does not mean you practice the religion of Judaism, so I was not dissing his religion or his race, just that im tired of Jewish people constantly bringing up their race like people really care. This does not mean I dislike Jewish people at all in fact I definitely support Isreal. I believe in equality of people and the races and sometimes I find the constant talk about im this race or that race patronizing.

And sorry, but I'm not from the slime and dirt. Just because I make a point about a related subject does not mean I don't understand or missed the point of everything else in the speech.

    Best keynote of all time.

  • AncientDozer

    Posted Sep 4, 2008 1:18 am PT

I'm so glad that you came up from the depths of slime and dirt to join us, Telekenesis. I'm glad you missed the entire point of the speech. Oh, oh. Focus on Bioshock (by the way, that's only your opinion) and his religious background? Ignore the story of unity and coming together, of the history and evolution of a fellow "nerd" from a shamed existance to one of the most celebrated people in our culture? Great. I'm glad you chose yourself to be some kind of "champion" to bring down the "big bad" off the high horse. That keeps you away from anything that matters or is important.

Great speech, Levine. You're an inspiration and I enjoyed your story. It's great to find a place where we can feel welcomed.

Sorry guy, but Bioshock isn't THAT good, the gunplay is pretty weak, here is no enemy variety and its a dumbed down version of System Shock, but it made you money, so your happy but educated gamers know. Maybe Bioshock 2 will be more complex, my bets are it will be better, cause you got a good thing going, but dont kid yourself.

And btw noone give a S that your Jewish so stop bringing it up and come back down to our level.
