Our camera catches Erick and Jim in an everyday conversation about their Path of Exile obsession.
Cool talk on the game. Also, it's hilarious how these guys just keep awkwardly walking in circles around the office, but kudos for trying something new!
@R3NeGaDeAnGeL It's alright, just confusing because you expect them to be actually going somewhere but no, they're just constantly walking in circles for 10min xD
1. Diablo 3
2. Path of Exile (Haven't played it but it looks awesome.)
3. Torchlight II
I enjoyed Erick and Jim's talk-n-walk around the GameSpot office while throwing in game-play snip-its throughout the video. I think that's a cool format and it made the information about Path of Exile much more interesting than just sitting at a table talking about it. Thanks.
Jeez ! Stop bitching on D3, some people like me appriciate it and concider it as the "true" successor of D2 so let's not use ampiric tones in such statements...
Erveryone appriciat their game, period.
Hi ya blizz fanboys!
I know that you love D3. But have you played D2? If so then how about try Path of Exile? After that you can trash your opinion about which one is the true successor of D2.
@Sampawende "True" successor of D2. Get the fuck out. It's similar to D1/2 in name only.
Complete removal of character building (no more attribute point system), no risk/consequence gameplay (if you fuck up your abilities, you can instantly change them), farming de-emphasized (which they're trying to re-emphasize again), lack of longterm progression until they finally put in paragon levels because, more stylized art that moves away from the gritty dark tones of the first two games, and I could go on.
Mechanically, D3 is amazing, as any Blizzard game is. But as a Diablo game, it's absolute shit. PoE and TL2 are far closer to being Diablo sequels than D3 is.
@Sampawende I wasn't actually "bitching" about D3, I played that game much longer than most people, and its reflected in all the videos/live streams we've done here with me and my coworker. For the ten years that we waited I wanted more, and let's be honest the RMAH broke that game. Maybe Expansion will fix it.
What I was really trying to do as everyone does is compare games, and features one game has that the other doesnt have. I think bartering/trade chat is better personally, as well as some of the diversity you get to pick yourself. Opinion is opinion but I want you to realize I love the Diablo Franchise. I literally live streamed 40 straight hours when D3 came out.
@Erick@SampawendeWell I agree that the RMAH was an abomination from the moment it was announced. I also never played to POE so I have no element of comparison either, it's just (like the comment that has just poped above.....) that the hatred (not yours) from the community toward D3 doesn't make it justice. I wasn't caring at all until I saw the impact it had on the devs who also deserved that people that have been satisfied by their game also share their peace of mind. So that's why I'm no longer ignoring statements that D3 had failed while it has entertained me for countless hours (not with some frustrations but overall I really appreciated it).
In the other hand I do not doubt that you have played much longer than most people here and therefore are in better position to point what's not working in the game. But having also played it a huge amount of hours I don't think that the game deserves this hatred from the community considering that most of the points that was recurring was on a bold comparison between D2 & D3, D3 is not D2 and for me it's better this way, 'cause I steel have my D2 when I want to enjoy it.
@Sampawendeits not lack of appreciation, its simple ignorance and blind trust that blizzfanboys had
@stan_hg @Sampawende FYI I don't like blizzard and don't play their ganes that much, my principles are simple, I play a game, when I need to bitch on it or some of its features I do it plainly but when it is good and it entertains me, I do not deny it I say that it's a good game. I far from blind of crappy games versus good ones, I would even say that the blind ones are those who cannot recognize a good game from a bad one or maybe that they sould simply play more diverse game to update their definitions of "poor" games.
@Sampawende you are easy to please my friend or it looks like that, because d3 is very low on features and yet you dont even try to see what can be expected from an arpg let alone diablo game
@stan_hg @Sampawende And there are more poor people than rich people, we can go far with those kind of totologies....
Why should I deny that I absolutely liked D3 ? To make some people pleased ?
wont happen.
@Sampawende @stan_hg have to admit, that there are much ppl complain about it, so there is something that you miss, did you consider it ?
The problem i have with these types of games is the grinding you have to do to level up. So far i have made 4 different characters in PoE and each time when i hit level 40-50 it starts to be a drag. The game itself is awesome, i love the enemies, the game play, the skill tree and the look of the game but i just cant make myself go further into the difficulties. I dont enjoy grinding and farming, i just want to play the game and level up during the story. i had the same problem in Diablo3. You have to be able to enjoy repeating to enjoy the higher levels. Apart from that, the game is good fun and well balanced. I will keep making new characters and enjoy the game that way.
You play a game from Grinding Gear Games, and you don't like grinding. How cool is that?
@Sideshow_me Welcome to action RPG's. You grind a lot and farm weapons. If you don't like that style of gameplay, the genre probably isn't for you.
@Sideshow_me I can see this, but try the maps at end game to experience this, and maybe a couple people here will want to join in and party action is definitely more fun.
My only gripe with the game is that its too short. Loved it until it restarts on the higher difficulty. Couldn't get into that. I've heard they're working on more acts, 10 planned eventually. Just hope they come out with at least some of that, soon enough to matter.
@vihazur as far as i know they were working on act4 but didnt even know what act5 would be like. Thats from a couple of weeks ago though so maybe they've progressed.
Dont bullshit, another Diablo is title not for PoE for sure....
Many many differnt classes and HUUUUGE skill tree...yeah right and tell me that every option in skill tree is good compared to the rest options in that tree....bull shit.
Another cookie-cutter shit.
@belgard1299 You can find cookie-cutter builds in anything. What PoE does do though, is allow for you to try new things and fail. We still see new builds coming out as people continue to experiment. You can be boring and do the "best" build (not that there is a quantifiable "best" build in PoE beyond, "Play ranged since melee get shat on"), or you can use one of the dozens and dozens of other completely viable builds.
If you have no imagination or desire to try different things, that's your own damn fault. Don't project them onto everyone else.
By watching the gameplay footage I get the feeling that this game is what D3 should have been. It gives me some D1,2 chills but still unique in it's own way. Looking foreward to this one!
Great feature, really nicely done and it makes me want this game. Sounds (not looks) awesome.
I gave up my D3 account to a random guy on the forum when PoE went open beta. Never regret it for a second.
@doctorjekyll7 Bcos u can't get better item in D3, u can't beat the game, and bcos u spent USD60 and now u cry like baby boy. LOL. Loser.
@Smart1Guy @doctorjekyll7 After reading your comment, attempting to put your words into sentences and trying to make sense out of it we can really see who the LOSER is. You should go back to school ASAP.
@Smart1Guy @darkscape @doctorjekyll7 For being so smart, you sure can't string a sentence together worth crap.
@darkscape @Smart1Guy @doctorjekyll7 LOL. Whatever u said loser ~ ~ Ohya, why not you play supermario? Suits u alot loser. LOL.
It's okay noob. The game is for hardcore anyway. The GAMEPLAY is much more complicated that I'm afraid it will scare you anyway.
And as far as graphics concerned, the can just improved it afterwards if needed. It is much more gothic as D2. But the animations may gets better later. (hope so)
It is still in beta, reminds you. And its already feels great as it is.
@Smart1Guy I love PoE. If GGG had a budget for PoE like D3, it would be even more awesome. PoE's complexity overshadows D3's smooth combat and cartoony graphics. Remember now GGG consisted of only 18-20 members on their team. This was their first game and many of the devs were just out of the University. Congratz to GGG for hanging out in the big leagues.
Hey I played the beta for a few days and this is a really fun game. It felt a lot like a sort of Titan Quest/Diablo II MMO.
The message this video is trying to get across is that: PoE is going to be the next big thing!
The fact that they made game so superior to blizzard I think indicates theres something seriously wrong with major companies in the game industry.
