A chilling and timeless adventure, a strong and innovative contender in the survival-horror genre.
After a bizarre paranormal event, scientists discover that Mitochondria, a component of all living cells, have their own consciousness and can manipulate their host body in horrifying ways. Detective Aya Brea sets out to investigate a string of horrible mutations and brutal murders linked to the mitochondria outbreak.
PE offers dark and detailed environments along with a score of well-animated characters and creatures. The music is chilling and well composed, effectively setting the mood. The sound effects are on par, as are the ambient effects. The game also sports pretty good dialog.
If I had to cite a flaw, it would be the quirky system of configuring your weapons. There is a decent assortment of guns in the game, but you need to find special parts and items to mod your weapons into new guns with various side effects. An interesting concept, but it needs some tweeking.
All in all, PE is a classic, providing lots of fun and plenty of chills.
