great value!

I recently purchased the limited edition black dvd version of painkiller and i love it. I had played it once before but never really spent enough time with it. Now that I have spent a good 2-3 hours with it I can honestly say I think this game is much better than Serious Sam. Not all of the levels are filled with swarms of enemies like in Serious Sam, but the levels are much better designed and it is definitely a challenge on the harder difficulties.
The graphics in this game are wonderful, even by today's standards. The Pain engine does a great job of rendering rather large outdoor enviornments. The character models could be a little better but at high resolutions and all settings maxed they still look pretty good. Besides the great looking graphics, the physics are probably the best I have seen in any game. It uses the same physics engine as Half-Life 2 but does it better. You would really have to play the game and see for yourself.
The sound in this game is also great. If you have surround sound speakers and a good sound card you can hear everything that is going on in the level around you.
This is a great value game if you are into FPS games. For $30 you can get the original Painkiller plus the expansion and all the bonus material in DVD or CD form. I have not yet tried out the expansion or the multiplayer so I cannot comment on that but I'm sure it is just as fun. If you want an in depth story in your FPS then don't buy this game. Painkiller does have a story but its not a very detailed or interesting one. If you just want to run around and shoot demons into a bloody pulp then this game is for you.
