Out of this World; yeah it really was.

I was given "Out of this World" as a Christmas gift, in conjunction with another game that I was honestly looking forward to playing way more than this new game I never even heard of before. Well, coming back to today, I have no clue what that other game was, but I fondly remember Out of this World. I will never forget the first time I put the cartage into the Genesis, and played it for the first time. The opening sequence is still visually interesting to this day, and without looking it up I remember it vividly. A car races up to some kind of strange desolate building, and man goes down an elevator to a lab where he is working on a project and an electrical short sends him into another world. This kind of video opening was not something you saw very often in games of that time, and left me speechless the first 20 times I saw it. It was amazing, but once you found your way into the world, you found a puzzle style side scroller that was very imaginative and original in its game play and fantasy settings. I have still have not played any game like it outside of Flashback which was made by the same company and had very similar play mechanics. It truly was a ground breaking game, that was ahead of its time, and may still not be fully appreciated.
