Onimusha: Water Puzzle

User Rating: 7 | Onimusha: Warlords PS2

A good game to start a great game series, this game is fun, challenging, the pre-rendered backgrounds are detailed, even though player is still controlled like a tank, and seems very slow, buttons-actions react very well. Medicine is scarce, enemy AI is good so you'll have to really pay attention fighting minions cause you will not want to lose lots of health. This game's recommended for every action adventure fans.

It still carries most flaws Capcom games tend to have, for example: Tanky slow movement, it very often gets confusing during battles, if you add the camera changing perspective, it usually makes confusing and frustrating to move and attack. No skippable cut-scenes and tedious menu loadings make it a bit boring to reload saved games or reload after you die. Its a common flaw Capcom games are carrying (I don’t even know why) up until Devil May Cry series, it goes like this: Tanky/slow movement, constant camera switching angles screws up controls, unskippable cutscenes makes reloading tedious. Frequently, save points are between a lot of fighting and puzzles and boss fights...so if you end up dead, you’ll have to go through every single battle, puzzle to fight the boss again hoping no to die, since you’ll have to redo everything over without skipping the cutscenes. Capcom seems to rely on this to rise overall game difficulty, adding some cheap boss movements where you obviously have a great disadvantage (you are tanky and slow, bosses tend to be WAY faster and stronger and tend to have unblockable attacks) so sometimes it makes all those Capcom games feel not difficult, but cheap and frustrating, even making you want to hit your console as hard as possible while screaming in anger…and it happens here too. One more complaint should be that there’s a secret sword which is hard to get…unfortunately you get it at the very end of the game just before the final boss…making it useless since that boss fight is actually easy, so it’s a waste to try to get it.

The story-plot is regular, but it manages to carry out the gamepace well.

It has replay value (for some, if you like what you unlock,...that extra...) it happens if you manage to gather enough flourite, and recieve a good score at the end of the game...It includes a tease trailer.

NOTE: Water Puzzle will make you scream, it’s a pain in the back, it certainly made a lot of people resign and quit from playing it…here’s no secret, no trick about it, you just HAVE to do it, period... you are warned.
