Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is a fine hack n' slash game, but there are far better alternatives in the genre.

I'm gonna try not to compare this too much to the recent Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which I loved, but it was too short, this is a longer game, but unfortunately, repetition set in before the final boss. I never played Ninja Gaiden 2, the newer one, not the NES one, although, I didn't play that one either. I know the deal, super challenging games that demands lightning quick reflexes, yeah, I guess that wasn't in the original Ninja Gaiden 3 release, so they've fixed that, man, did they fix that, already on normal I knew this was gonna be tough, and it was. I guess I should point out that there is an "easy" mode, and I did play through that one, never died once in combat, or, you know, fair and square, only died from failing quick time events and ridicilous instant kill moments. The game is really fast, sometimes it can feel a little too fast, too hectic and frantic, especially when several enemies crowd the screen and you can't even see your character, then the button mashing starts to hopefully find your way out of the mess. The camera is actually not that big of a problem, only occassionally did it annoy me. I will say that the game is fun for the most part, a game like this is only as good as it's boss battles, and there are some good ones, some horrible ones as well though. One annoying thing as well is that the game sometimes throws so many enemies at you one ofter another and it feels like it's taking too long to progress, and some take a while to kill as well. The game looks good, a few minor framerate problems during cool moments, but no big deal, that is until the final boss, one section is more or less fighting regular enemies against a cool backdrop, and it literally feels like fighting in slow motion, yeah, not very impressed with the Wii U at that point I'm afraid. Also, some sound glitches occured. But hey, I'm really being negative now, I will say that if you like these kinds of games, it's good enough. There are golden scarabs to find, 50, if I remember correctly, which unlock new weapons and abilities, you can upgrade your health and whatnot. There are many cool weapons, I stuck with the Falcon Talons, you can also play as Aayane at two points in the game, I only wish she could've had some cool boss battles herself, but oh well. The story is all over the place, but some, SOME of the voice acting is quite good. Uhm, I don't know what to say really, guess you've noticed, I listed many negative points, but I did manage to have fun with the game, I guess it took me a little over 5 hours to complete, so yeah, it's not perfect, far from it, not even what I would call a great game, but a solid hack n' slash that does deliver some entertainment.
