Overrated game

User Rating: 6 | NieR: Automata - Game of the YoRHa Edition PC

This game has had lots of excellent reviews but I just don't dig it. In essence it looks like a typical Korean art-style game - early teenage protagonists with over sized weapons sort of stuff. The setting is a mechanical steampunk world

However there is no introduction to the game- as soon as you fire it up, its hack and slash with no real story, you don't know why you're there, what you are doing, who you are kiling or why. It just feels like mindless violence kiling robots with no real reason to it. I'm sure the narrative gets expanded as you play on but I got bored with it.

The game is also very different - crazy camera angles and one minute it runs like a first person shooter then the camera angle changes and it becomes a top down ARPG. The most annoying thing is no checkpoint save system and you can only mannually save after each boss fight, so being able to save your progress is often an hour apart which is ridiculous and means you have to manage your play time and know you have a good hour to play before you can reach the next save point

The graphics are pretty but nothing special.

The game has a lovevely orchestral soundtrack

I play in 4k ultra settings and get 35fps
