High-definition remastered versions of PlayStation 2 Konami action titles due later this year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Zone of the Enders HD Collection will ship to retail this fall for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Konami announced today.
The high-definition combo pack was first announced last June with a wide 2012 release window attached.
The collection includes the 2001 original Zone of the Enders and its 2003 sequel, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner. Both titles are "fully remastered" and include high-definition visuals, according to Konami.
Additionally, Zone of the Enders HD Collection marks the first time the games have seen release outside the PlayStation 2.
Zone of the Enders HD Collection is the latest high-definition rerelease pack from Konami. The company shipped Metal Gear Solid HD Collection last November. That bundle included high-definition updates of the PS2 games Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and the highly regarded PSP release Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
@Petty_Steve "OH, touche Sony... I see this is your reason removing PS2 backward compatibility on the PS3..." The article: "Zone of the Enders HD Collection will ship to retail this fall for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Konami announced today." "for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3" "for the Xbox 360" I don't see how Sony has anything to do with Third party developers re-releasing their games. I thought Sony's reason for removing backwards compatibility was to reduce the PS3's price tag.
@dxBIGBOSSxb "Well it's my opinion that it's a mother****ing FACT that this game sucks ass!" - AVGN :P
Z.O.E:the 2nd Runner was my favorite game on the ps2 and now it is coming back with high-definition visuals..wow i can't ask for more than that. Note: Dear gamers if you like anime and robots and never played Z.O.E before get it you will love it just like i did and hey it`s made by konami and kojima... i cant wait to fire the Vector Canon again lol
@MFreeSoul Me neither!!! haha ohhh the Vector Canon it was soooo awesome to fire the amazing weapon!!!! Favorite game on PS2!!!
I personally prefer this to backwards compatibility I have an extensive library of classics but those are for collection purposes only, I will definitely buy all of my collection again in HD if becomes available i mean come on people would you rather pop in Final Fantasy 7 in your PS3 and actually play it with its outdated graphics or are you more likely to simply click on the HD version of the game and start playing w less loading times and better graphics, this makes me want to revisit games like Dino crysis, Silent Hill, Brave fencer Musashi, XENOGEARS!!!! and Parasite EVE!! I just wet my pants thinking about HD remakes for those last 2!
OH, touche Sony... I see this is your reason removing PS2 backward compatibility on the PS3... Weird how it's taken me this long to notice that Sony removed backward compatibility so they could make MORE money from HD "remakes" on the same game, you possibly still have taking a nap on your shelf. Sony...you bastards :P
@monson21502 Unfortunately backwards compatibility is dead, and even if it where alive this HD remakes allow us to experience good old games at the right screen ratio used this days and with cleaned up graphics.
The only reason anyone cared about ZOE is because it had the MGS2 demo with it. Little did we know, that game was awful, too.
@VikingPhobos I think it will be. The MGS remakes look awesome on the 360! Textures look great (MGS3 is amazing in HD). MGS2 looked great as well, even better than I remember it!
These two games are epic... all Konami needs to do now is make a new one. Sequel or reboot, doesn't even matter....
this really is the best time for gamers. well for me anyway. first mgs hd, then sega gives us an even better version of sonic cd, and they just announced jet set radio for xbla and psn, and ZOE hd. I say keep pushing out classics. HD or SD. buying games for graphics is like watching porn for story.
imagine how much cooler the snake eater remake would have been if they not only made it in hd but added bumpmapping, dynamic moving environments, etc If they brought the graphics on par with or ahead of metal gear 4
i feel like these hd releases of classics is a great idea but the graphics should really be taken to a level consistent with say, $30 for these games. It doesn't cost them nearly as much to port and clean up the graphics.
ZOE was one of my first PS2 games, it will be great to play again in HD. I just wish it had been a little deeper in gameplay but still worth getting.
I hope they fix the horrible translation on ZOE2. I loved the game to death but some of the lines felt like transliteration of the japanese script rather than a real translation of the script. It just didnt make sense at times.
With all these HD Collections, I swear to God the new xbox and playstation better be backwards compatible with ps3 and 360. All I need now is Capcom vs SNK 2 HD...and I'm completely satisfied. No more complaining about my ps3 not being ps2 backwards compatible.
HD ZOE !! :D ... :D...:)....:/...:( wait, I already have these games right here and played them to the point where I know everything there is to know about them. I wish Konami sold these remakes for cheap, granted we'd return our older versions of the game at the counter, because there's really no point in having a game twice.
Glad I still have both games when they just came out. To be honest I still think that in terms of graphics and gameplay, these games still hold pretty well today but nonetheless I'll still gladly take a HD update, I mean seriously, how many good mech fighting games are there right?
Glad I still have my PS2 originals and to be honest, they still don't look too dated, both visually and gameplay wise.
Would love to play these basically because I've always been interested but only played the MP of the 2nd game once or twice and nothing else.
Sold, I don't care about the price, I just what glorious ZOE in my PS3 with cleaned up graphics/textures on my HDTV.
The third is still a strong possibility guys. Kojima still owns the license, and he has confirmed he intends to make another one :D

The aerial combat is still thrilling, but some inexcusable issues make Zone of the Enders HD Collection a disappointing repackaging of two cult classics.
