LOL, thats the day after my birthday. Still not purchasing one though because I have better things to spend my money on. Maybe when the new HD Zelda title hits on it I might.
Wii U launching November 18?

Peripheral maker at GameStop managers' conference today reportedly leaks release date for Nintendo's newest hardware.
The Wii U's release date may have been exposed. A presentation today at the GameStop managers conference by accessory maker PDP allegedly slipped a November 18 release date for the console, Kotaku reports. A corroborating report is hosted on NeoGAF.
According to the source, "[PDP] changed the subject real quickly once they realized what they said." A PDP representative issued a statement to Kotaku, which neither confirms nor denies the report.
"At this time we can't confirm Nintendo's dates and we don't know exactly what was heard, but we simply do not know that this point," reads a line from the statement. "We are launching accessories, but the date for the accessories doesn't mean a confirmation on the hardware. If you seek confirmation on the date that is something that is going to need to go specifically though Nintendo, but we can't confirm or deny dates on any of their hardware."
A Nintendo representative told GameSpot, '"We have nothing to announce at this time."
Nintendo is holding a Wii U-themed event in New York City on September 13. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will present that day on "how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment."
A November 18 launch date for the Wii U falls in line with previous reports. Toki Tori 2 developer Two Tribes had previously said a November launch date for the console was probable, with the more recent scuttlebutt suggesting a launch during the week of the United States' Thanksgiving holiday and the Black Friday shopping frenzy.

1 Like I just had the sudden need for a Pokemon game on the Wii U. And none of that Battle Revolution crap, I mean something with a plot. Maybe make it a Mega Collection or something, with all the main series games on it. But with console graphics. I'd buy that. Heck, even if you only liked the original Red/Blue, who wouldn't buy that?
@ohjtbehaaave Yes, because buying a $250 PS3 that's 6 years old or Xbox360 Kinect Bundle crap for $400 that's a 7 year old console is somehow better than buying a more powerful next generation Wii U for $299? That's a joke and half if there was one. Sure, it may not compete graphically against PS4 and Xbox720, but the Wii U will **** all over the current consoles.
@BestJinjo I'm sure everyone will be pumped to see some HD Zelda, Metroid and Mario... but the real question will be the overall game library. Everyone jumped on Wii because it was something unique and new. But with a so so game library overall gamers quickly got bored with it and Wii became a dust collector to quickly. I'm not sure gamers are ready to run out and buy a Wii U like they did a Wii. It's going to be a wait and see on it imo and not as much blind faith this time around.

@craigprime I'd probably pay $300 for it if there was a good game library that uses the controller well. They say it's only going to be as powerful as a 360 I think... so going towards the $350.00 $400 range is out of whack imo.
I didn't inject any Nintendo fanboyism. You added to what I was saying about how Nintendo leads the charge and the others are the ones catching up. Actually the classic controller basically looks like a SNES controller with dual analogs and an extra L/R buttons added in and the Wii U Pro (while similar to the 360 in design) is a traditional version of the Wii U GamePad with a more comfortable design (Nintendo probably felt that the 360 design was more comfortable than Playstation design).
It bothers me when people make generalizations based on 1 or 2 things. Oh the Wii wasn't HD and now the Wii U is an HD console, suddenly Nintendo's always playing catch up and yet they've forgotten about how Nintendo usually leads the way, sure Sega was the first to do online, Microsoft built upon it and made it a standard and Sony mainstreamed optical discs and videogames. I'm not only talking about your comment but I've seen these comments in nearly every gaming site i go on.

Besides that, the last comment I read from you was when you compared Nintendo's next gen system having current gen launch titles to "PS2 games coming out around the time the PS3 did". ...lol Totally different things.
Lastly, yeah, Nintendo basically invented the d-pad, SNES refined it, but plenty of other systems improved upon it like the Dualshock while Nintendo did weird things, like the Cube. Then there's the Classic Controller PRO which is funny 'cuz it copied the Dualshock tip for tap, while the Wii U's traditional pad, as I said, copied the 360.
Everyone copies each other, but Nintendo refines a bit, then does something loopy, then tries to refine their "loopyness".
1 Like Always playing catch up? Indeed, they had to catch up to motion controls, glasses free 3D, dual screen play, oh wait, they're the first to successfully market and mainstream these forms of technology! The ONLY thing they had to catch up on was HD and back in 2005/06, there was no way Nintendo could release an HD console without making it expensive since unlike Sony and Microsoft, they can't really afford to sell consoles at a loss. The 3DS was an exception since Nintendo is riding off the massive success of the DS and Wii. More like they lead the charge and others wait to see if they want to do what Nintendo's doing, which is why shortly after the Wii U was revealed, Sony and Microsoft suddenly had their versions of the Wii U's primary function. I never heard anything about the Vita being used as a PS3 controller until after the Wii U was revealed.

But hey, at least their next gen system can finally play some of the best current... gen... games. Yay? ...lol.
"They say" but nothing is for sure yet. Developers have yet to tap into what the Wii U is capable of. Granted what they could get out of it right now might only be somewhat better than the 360/PS3, but what about a year or 2 from now? Sure there were some excellent looking games at the PS3 and 360 launch, but the average game now looks far better than most of the games back in 2006/07.
1 Like I'm guessing Michael Pachter has gotten to you. You don't know the specs of the system, so if the system is priced say at $350, it's because the hardware inside will justify that price.
I'll be at home watching the sheep waste money and support a gimmick driven corporation that died long ago.
@DarthLod And Kinect and PS3 Move are not gimmicks? I see Xbox 360 Kinect bundle is going for $400 on BestBuy......LOL! For a 7 year old console with outdated hardware, MS is surely joking. Wii U will make PS3/360 irrelevant completely at least until PS4/720 launch.

1 Like @abHS4L88 @DarthLod Apparently this kid knows nothing about Nintendo's brilliant "blue ocean" marketing strategy (i think thats the name lol der) that has allowed it to be different from the other systems but still enormously viable whilst cutting its own path through the industry. Personally, just because i wasnt a fan of the Wii doesnt mean it wasn't a fantastic idea and enormously successful with the casual market.
THANK YOU, I kind of see them like the Disney/Pixar of gaming, constantly putting out quality games that appeal to all audiences.
A lot of gamers seem to forget that they were once kids and as someone who works with kids, it drives me nuts when I hear about how many of them play Call of Duty and what not since it really teaches them nothing, except how to imitate a fake war zone :P
1 Like One of the things I love about Nintendo is they keep their childlike sensibility.. thats why theyre system (Wii) was so successful with babyboomers and children alike. People get mad that they reiterate their classic archetypes ad nauseam - but thats why I love Nintendo: they never forget where their heart is. Sure they change some things but they always play the crowd pleasers.
1 Like They clearly don't see how videogames are kind of stagnating in creativity also so sometimes it takes a gimmick to kick things up and encourage developers to see things differently.
I do think they want to sell it at a profit (even if it's a small profit) so I'm guessing $300 is the lowest.

@buccomatic The Wii U is in no way going to be $250-300. Gametrailers was talking out of thier asses(No wonder why James Rolfe split from them). Pre-Orders are set for 349 Euros on Amazon Europe for the console by itself. Games are $69.
You seen to have all these "legitimate" sources yet you never seem to want to share them with us. Sure what you're posting SOUNDS reasonable but until Sept. 13th, everything is just rumors or speculation.
1 Like It probably won't be anymore than $100 considering it's a controller and not a stand alone device. But I mean if you have a DS and you never broke the screen or a smart phone that's never broke then you should be fine with the Wii U GamePad.

2 Like Pretty much every hands on impression of the Wii U GamePad has been positive. Plus if the Wii worked, what makes you think Nintendo would release a controller that won't work? Already the launch titles are displaying the capabilities of the controller and these are the launch titles, what more a year or two from now?

1 Like The WiiMote worked, it didn't offer the 1:1 swinging motion at first and the MotionPlus offered that, but for the best titles that used the original WiiMote, it didn't really require 1:1 motion. At least the Wii U will continue using the WiiMotion Plus starting with Pikmin 3.
3 Like I liked the wii for a while until i could not play really good looking games like call of duty or assassins creed those games were great and if u only had a wii u could not play mayor blockbuster titles. Now with the wii u has great graphics and with the best games ever like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and such so i'm looking forward to the wii u is going to be the best of both world. DON'T DISAPPOINT ME NINTENDO!!!!
It may as well since I am not going to get it. I don't need two Wii, one with a facelift and only nominal improvements over the older.
@Uruca Seriously they do need a New Metroid I never played metroid because "I wasn't really into" first person games but I played metroid and I was like "FUCK YEAH!"

1 Like @demonkingx5 A lot of people just regard the typically cartoonish graphics of most Nintendo games as childish. Back in the 90s, there was no choice as games didn't look anywhere near as realistic as they do now so if you wanted to play games, cartoon style graphics was pretty much all you had.
To be honest, I like games like Mario and Zelda DESPITE the cartoony graphics, I'd much rather a God of War type of art style but Nintendo games nearly always play well enough to still warrant playing them.
We have known for a while now the when, or close to it. Whats really on everyones mind is how much, for many it's going to be to high. But new stuff always is more expensive.
