The World of Warcraft movie will be released in theaters on December 18, 2015, Blizzard Entertainment announced today.

The film is being directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and could feature In Bruges actor Colin Farrell and There Will Be Blood's Paul Dano in lead roles.

The film's plot remains largely under wraps, though a past report suggests the movie will feature "time travel and alien worlds."

Production on the film will begin in January. Blood Diamond and K-PAX writer Charles Leavitt authored the most recent version of the World of Warcraft film's script.
