Sci-fi Call of Duty rumors resurface

Reminds me of "Call of Duty: Its the Moon" from Game Infarcer.

I would love some COD style gameplay in a futuristic/space environment. The halo thing has gotten old for me

I think a sci-fi cod could be done right. My only concern is that people would accuse it of being a halo rip-off. If they can give us the same kinda experience as battlefield 2142 (a feasible future/space setting with a feasible war scenario) without aliens, I'll check it out. btw, the only way i can see aliens being involved is if they use the aliens that made the WaW ray gun as a plot device, but they made it like Total Recall were the aliens are already extinct but left behind traces of their civilization (the ray guns and stuff)

I think i'm done with call of duty after investing a good 10 days in each of the last 4, unless they do something radically different i'm going to move on.

@jixhedgehog You do know that MW3 is already announced for the end of the year and its been heavily implied that that is exactly what it's about right?

I'm excited about sci-fi call of duty.My dream is to shred aliens with laser shotguns.And yeah, and orbital laser canon would be cool.I hope they don't screw this one up.I personally hate all treyarch made COD.The rest are awesome (including Modern Warfare 2).

@dinosaur-123 it won't be anything like halo! they're not ging to put aliens in it, that wouldn't be call of duty at all. i reckon it'll be humans vs humans fighting over territory or resources, same as usual but in the future.

@killzonexbox This franchise was ruined a long time ago. Personally though, i think this is a good choice, and it might be the first call of duty game since COD4 that i actually like. But if they dont have an orbital laser cannon as a killstreak then i will brutally murder everyone who had even the least bit to do with the creation of this game.

Personally I'm both excited and skeptical about this. Firstly it's a great idea and while done before in other games I think it's a brave new approach. On the other hand though CoD was never really made, originally, as a Sci-Fi game in the first place. I would say I would have to play it first to know for sure but personally I would probably call it something else as opposed to making it part of the Call of Duty series. Then again...it could be interesting and fun.

I like games that dont feel restricted by historical accuracy and dont arise any problems. (Nazi zombies in germany) (airport scene in Russia) (playing as the taliban forces) Also now when someone says colblooded is unrealistic I say "hell its the future!" And we get to see new guns instead of the M16 and the M4 and the FAMAS and must i name them? Ooh and new killstreaks instead of having to be somewhat real it can crazy! Boy am i excited!

I, for one, am looking forward to a Sci-Fi adaptation of the Call of Duty series. I think this will go over well and could be the biggest seller of them all. Can't wait!!

Why not just make a Black Ops II, I thought Black Ops story was fun why not just make a sequel? Why not just keep to the historical fiction formula, I loved seeing JFK, Macnamara, Castro and Nixon fighting zombies, why not do a COD game that takes place in the 80's were you see historical figures like Reagon, Kissinger, Gorbachov, and Margaret thatcher fighting zombies? With the SciFi space marine game, it's been done too many times, Halo, GOW, Turok, Doom series,Mass Effect, AvP, lost plant etc.

Activision stole from Halo with theater, customization, and other stuff from Halo and did I say, "Activision, steal from Halo because it is the only future-game out there!" You know, I don't like COD, but this is a good thing. EA/DICE will respond with Battlefield 2143, a sequel I have long been waiting to happen.

CoD gameplay and Halo gameplay is totally different.

It'd be fine if they didn't call it "Call of Duty". Mainly because then they would only have about a year to make it.

Not as far fetched as bloody MW2. Secret governemnt agencies (Taskforce 141), Russians invading the US and being a flippin' astronaut. CoD jumped the shark at that point

I was out after Modern Warfare 2, and if there's a CoD in space, then I'm never going back. If anything, I'll rent these games like I have with Black Ops.

If they keep up the franchise with the same quality as its predecessors then i'm excited as hell!

COD is no longer about historical events (WW2) and it now a fictional story with made up events. Might as well go into space and go to war on the moon

Bungie just signed a contract with activison fro 10 years, they are the offical makers of Halo who took space and sci-fi combat to another level. the space call of duty will most likely be a test for something "bigger" Activison is owned by blizzard, and i remember years ago when they had planned " Starcraft: G.H.O.S.T" for the PS2 and then suddenly poof, gone. Yet when you go to the website you can see that its still there as one of the games to choose to see its history, u click it and it just says no info at this time. Do the math. ill say it simple. Bungie and activison is making a Starcraft FPS

Well, between killstreaks, perks, bunnyhopping, snowmobile jumps, helicopters bouncing undamaged off of hillsides, and a .45 1911 that does less damage than a 9mm Makarov (I HATE that), CoD is currently about as realistic as Halo. So, might as well make it official and go sci-fi.

Ok, the only CoD game I've bought so far has been Modern Warefare 1 because I didn't really see a point to the others. But this just seems crazy enough to warrant a purchase if it's trying to be a "realistic" space shooter and not just another Spehhs Mehreens game. Maybe it'll just be Moonraker.

From here on out, I am only renting Call of Duty games just to play the campaigns. I will buy a new one every few years to update my multiplayer experience. I just think that buying a new one every single year is ridiculous. As for a Sci-Fi COD, i just dont think the name Call of Duty fits.

I love call of duty(though love Bad company even more)... but already there are too much call of duties to take. Advanced or future call of duty is okay to freshen things up ...but space?seriously? whats wrong with zombie warfare..:P

Why are you guys all assuming that it will have laser guns? I for one, believe and hope that it goes the hard sci-fi route and sticks with bullets. I also hope we're fighting both people AND aliens.

If Call of duty goes to a sci-fi setting, it will definitely ruin the CoD series. I won't get it.

I always thought the COD series would end up having an installment with a futuristic setting. After covering WWII, Vietnam and Modern Warfare, it seemed like their options were slim for new settings. They could choose from... 1. Civil War (Could be fun if you like reloading for a week) 2. WWI (A little less reloading, but still no Red Dot Sight) 3. Korean War (... actually this could work) 4. Gulf War (pretty much Modern Warfare) 5. THE FUTURE (Lasers would be fun, but I got a feelings the Killstreak Rewards would destroy the planet at this point) BTW: Would this sudden change in setting have anything to do with the fact that Activision has recently aquired the developers of the Halo series?
