Ridge Racer Unbounded delayed to 'later in 2012'
Namco Bandai pushes Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC racing game to give dev team more time to "pack the disc with features that will truly make the game sing."
Namco Bandai is keeping Ridge Racer Unbounded in the garage for extra work. The publisher today announced that the new racing game will arrive "later in 2012" for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It was previously expected to arrive on March 6.
Explaining the delay, Namco Bandai said the additional time will give the development team at Bugbear Entertainment more time "to pack the disc with features that will truly make the game sing." The publisher did not name any of these features.
Namco Bandai said it plans to make an announcement "shortly" that will detail the game's new release date, specify its preorder incentives, and provide a full list of features for the game.
Though Xbox 360, PS3, and PC gamers will need to wait extra time to play Ridge Racer Unbounded, a PlayStation Vita Ridge Racer game is due out on March 13.
Unbounded takes the circuit-racing franchise onto city streets with a new emphasis on havoc and destruction. Players will be able to choose how they race through cities, both in designing the city layouts and in opting to take shortcuts through storefronts when expedient.

Update: Namco Bandai has confirmed that only the North American release date has been delayed. Ridge Racer Unbounded will launch in Europe and Australia on March 29.
