Rayman Origins bounces to PC March 29

Ubisoft confirms whimsical 2D platformer in the works, slated to arrive at retail and online for $30 in two months.

When Ubisoft announced Rayman Origins in 2010, the publisher said a PC version of the 2D platformer was possible. Today, the publisher revealed a Windows version of the game is not only possible, but also nearly ready for release.

Ubisoft announced this afternoon that Rayman Origins will land on the PC on March 29. Of note, the game will be available for $30 at retail stores and as a download through Ubisoft's online shop.

While the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii iterations of Rayman Origins were launched in November, the PC version of the game isn't the only SKU still awaiting release. A PlayStation Vita version of the game is scheduled to launch on February 14, and a 3DS iteration is slated for March 20.

Rayman Origins is a quirky 2D side-scroller developed by Ubisoft and Rayman creator Michel Ancel. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's review of the Xbox 360 version.

I would like it, but Ubisoft usually puts DRM on their online store games. So......I'll stick to the PS3 version.

Ubisoft's online shop? Dang. If I can't buy it through Steam, I guess I'll just get it on disc for one of those other platforms.

I remember having played my old copy of Rayman 1, back when Ubisoft still had that Rainbow logo.... I played this game too many times to count.

In fact, I loved it so much I got it for both PC, AND PSOne. Because it was that awesome, and what i believe to be the best Platformer to ever grace this earth. There was never one Rayman game that has ever dissapointed me, not even the Raving Rabbits stuff.

    Definately getting this.

Yeah I would be excited about this but I don't trust Ubisoft period when it comes to PC versions of their games, they have shown that they have no love or respect at all for legit PC gamers and I don't see them changing.

I think it's great that Ubisoft are finally releasing it for the PC. I own it for the PS3 and it's a excellent game the more systems it's on the better as I do feel more people should give the game a chance. I just can't wait for Michel Ancel other game Beyond Good and Evil 2. @FreedomPrime it's understandable why it didn't do well on consoles at first because it was overshadowed by many other games. The price drop has increased sales.

@FreedomPrime Rayman origins sold 1 mil copies so far(xbox 360,wii,ps3) without digital sales
so, for a platform little game that now cost 30$(not 15$ like most platform games cost) i say it did very well.
add to that the digital sales and rayman origins=succes both in ratings and sales

According to RPS, Ubisoft have explicitly told them that the retail version will be free of DRM. If that's the case, it'll be a day-one, full price purchase for me.

I'm going to remain cautious for now though and I'm certainly not going to rush in, because Ubisoft have screwed us over enough in the past and I'm not going to get caught out again.

@power_marks lol even though I have it for ps3, I use dolphin to play it at school and works like a charm. Maybe now I can make custom character colors for globox and stuff.

If they don't release it on Steam, they're just begging for failure. Anyway, I'll probably wait for a 50% or greater sale.

Great game. Michel Ancel FTW! One feature I adored with this game was the 4 player local co op, and more gamers able to play this is always a great thing. I buy a lot of PC games....but I already own this game, as I'm a big Rayman fan.

    Posted Jan 26, 2012 4:15 pm GMT

This is good news. I hope it sells better for PC cause it sure didn't sell well on consoles.

    Posted Jan 26, 2012 3:49 pm GMT

Well, this is what happens when games commercially flop on consoles, they hope PC community will accept them, and release ports...

But I'll probably still pick it up,even though sales are minimal, many say the game is a great platformer
