PS Vita with HDMI, USB ports patented

I want a portable PS3.  PS3 is too big to fit anywhere. 

...and this is why the Vita is failing. They are trying too hard to make this a "Portable PS3".

....we get the point Sony, the damned this is capable of displaying current-gen graphics and features. Now, focus on games that emphasize the portable experience of the Vita. I didn't purchase a 3DS because it was a portable gamecube. I bought it for having games and features exclusive to handhelds.

This redesign defeats the purpose of having a PS3 that does the same thing. And for Pete's sake drop the price on the memory cards and include some hard drive space...and make the damn system a little smaller. Bring back the analog nubs, those sticks feel uncomfortable after a while.

i hope this means a price drop on the original version :D

If Sony is listening to people's complaints about those expensive memory cards, then, they should follow the example of the PSP Go. They should internally equip this new Vita version with a hard drive - 8 GB will bring a lot of happiness, plus the memory card will bring super happiness.

I love how people always bitch about how the vita has no original games but when they do release original games there all like "eh pass".

so who ever bought the "early" vita just got buttfucked by sony 

they should've made this design in the first place, what a cashgtab, just like the 3DS... 

then better to wait for the PS Vita Slim

I love watching UMD movies, playing games and doing other stuff on my tv with my trusty PSP, but that's because it HAS those things to show on my TV!

A Vita with the ability to show its content on a TV is still just a Vita, not a PSP, it doesn't have tons of awesome content worth showing on a TV let alone it's own screen, so no, I'm still not buying one.

At the very least give us some exclusive sequels to PSP exclusives that didn't get any love on PS2 or PS3.

And PLEASE bring back the XMB so we aren't forced to poke around on the screen as if we're using a DS or surf tablet or something, if that's what we wanted we'd buy one of those, not a Vita.

Utilize the buttons and analog sticks now that you've finally added them, don't sell yourselves short by only using the poke-the-screen function.

Just lol @ people saying the Vita has no games, maybe you people have an unreachable taste or you people want to seek for attention,  for being his first year is not a bad library at all, 

To everyone saying that the ports are a useless idea.... Everyone knows Sony is struggling with getting developers attention on the Vita system. So they are possibly putting the ports on the system for developers to get even more reasons to develop on the PS Vita....!

It will suck to replace my already AWESOME PSVita, but I wont mind getting another one if it has more to offer along with those ports...

Interestingly enough though.... the current PSVita has a port that is already able to output HDMI or function as a USB in/out port. HDMI can be added by making a new (PSVita to HDMI) adapter cable, without touching the PSVita design..... But it seems there is definitely more we don't know about their plans....... :)

I think I used the av for the psp 2000 two times in the 4 years I owned it.  I just got the vita so this doesn't really depress me; I think it's going to be pretty much the same product with or w/out the added addition of the hdmi.  Which is a powerful portable without enough software for it.

Dear Sony.... adding ports isn't going to help sell this thing.

How about you offer the same product line you offer to your own Japan country?  How about different colors? Different bundles? Or better yet.... how about Gran Turismo on the Vita?!!!

You are treating the US Market like a forgotten stepchild.  Quit releasing all the cool variants in Japan only!!!!

Sony always releases addition versions of their Handhelds and Consoles. So Feb 20th 2013 may have this officially announced by Sony.

Since PS1,PS2,PS3,PSP had muliple revisions. The PSvita is no different. Hopefully Sony will be wise enought to include a bit of on-board memory. 1GB flash memory so people can use the Pvita right out of the box. That 32GB Psvita memory card is still $100.00.

Sony could use this new version to refocus and relaunch the PSvita and get back on track. Feb 20th hopefully will include new PSvita games.

So the original Vita has no usb ports??? Lucky I haven't bought this yet, but I've already saved my ps plus free vita games, just in case :D

They should offer exchanges to whoever bought the vita at launch. seriously, i've probably used it less than 50 times. its already a great piece of hardware, focus on the software -_-

I was hoping the next Vita would be smaller and more portable. The shape of the thing and the way the little analog sticks that pop out of the top make it much less pocketable than a clamshell design like the DS/3DS or even a slide out design like the PSP Go.

Also, I can say from experience w/ the PSP and its AV out that it is something that seems really cool but then ultimately it ends up being something you don't really use.

I never buy first gen hardware.  This is the reason why.

yay HDMI ports to display its lack of games on your tv... The problem isn't the hardware, its the lack of support...

my vita is a paperweight atm.  Heres to hoping that changes soon :(

PS3 is going to be phased out but can continue to get cross buy games with Vita even during the PS4 era that is coming this year. HDMI is perfect because it is what the PSP had and I don't understand why they omitted the feature in the first place. I just hope for DS3 or any blutooth controller support aswell for fighting games that I want to play on the bigscreen. I love the Vita tech. 

Vita + HDMI = No real need to buy a PS3 if you're just in love with their online store.

I love my Vita.  I really, really do.  But I can't help but wonder why they are working on a second iteration when there are barely any games to play on the damned thing.  God!  Is every gaming company just completely out of touch with their core audience?!  All these companies just keep doing stupid things, which is inexcusable in the age of Twitter and stuff like that when they can straight up ask their customers what they're looking for in a Vita/PS4.

Ok... I Actually Am So excited that i have not gotten my Vita But i really really want it...But following Sony Trend, They will Release PSVita "Slim" Or Maybe something like that... 

What i really want is Better Battery Life... When PSVita Came out, it last 3~5 hours... Phones, during that time(iOS/Androids) Can last 200+, Now Phones can go 900 hours(Note II) So, if that kind of battery upgrades can be implemented to PSVita maybe... Maybe... a 12 hours battery is possible :D

and what about us that already own one i hope you release some sort of adapter for it so it can do the same thing

im going to lol if this is the announcement on the 20th. Hirai did say that they were going to let MS announce first, and then like a week later we say the 20th announcement. seems a little fishy if you ask me.

increase the battery life and get rid of the "black splotch" uniformity issues in the screen and ill buy a new revision..... new ports? nah.... ill stick with my current VITA.

Why couldn't they just release the Dev Kit at launch? Useless.

Should have come with those ports on release but at least it will have them.

HDMI and USB ports are so common in electronics nowadays, I don't get how Sony was able to patent them though. So now whenever a competitor makes a handheld that support USB and HDMI, Sony could easily sue them? Luckily the Neo Geo X Gold was released before this.

sorry, but that will be the point when i sell my vita.

sony did a shitty job so far in supporting the vita, the software has been lackluster, ps+ membership soso (can't argue with the free games so far).

natural fits like okami didn't make the transition to the vita, the ports we received have been mostly bad (not entirely sonys fault) and original vita based ips have mostly been missing.

the one game i am looking forward to is soul sacrifice which is lost in translation.

Please, Sony... we need new games (good game or bad-ass game) not new hardware.
