I'm really not surprised the game would work well on both. I just think more graphics would go into the ps3 version. Either way its an amazing handheld game and was well worth the wait. ^.^
Idea to switch platform for first-party action game came from Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.
While PlayStation Vita gamers in Japan and Southeast Asia are currently playing the Japanese and Chinese versions of Gravity Rush--an action adventure title from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama--the game was originally meant to be released for the PlayStation 3.
Not much was known about this until a recent Famitsu piece as part of the magazine's coverage on the PS Vita Game Conference held in Japan on March 28.
According to the article, the switch from the PS3 to the PS Vita occurred around 2009. At the time, the system's past nickname from the Gravity Rush development team was "New Portable Game Machine." The game's actual development started in summer 2008.
Makoto Isomine, a member of the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio internal development division, said that the idea for the switch came from SCE's president Shuhei Yoshida. During 2009, the team conducted basic research on the platform while working on the game's design.
Originally, there were just two programmers working on the Vita version before the team count expanded to more than 15 programmers. The small team had to pull off double duty with working on Gravity Rush as well as showing off the Vita's special capabilities. During that time of development, the PS Vita's hardware wasn't fully ready, so the team had to move development on the PC.
Lead programmer Yu Yokokawa shared that it was rare for first-party teams at Sony to develop in a Windows environment. Yokokawa said that developing on a PC environment was beneficial in the end, as it was easy to immediately test out the game and design without the need of development kits.
@deadruler08 you can make an HK account & play the English version. its a bit of a pain but it works. Some ppl say that if you set it up in a certain way, you can keep playing it in your main account. I've nvr gotten it to work myself but I have friends that say that they have. the procedure can be found here: http://psvitaforum.com/threads/anyone-else-using-a-jap-account-to-download-demos-not-available-yet.5564/
@Joeguy00 as I said before. the Vita games get posted to PSN at the same time that the game come to the store. I'm still buying the physical copy though
Oh, what is it saying? that I can't post to this forum at all? I see no reason to do that. and really is there anything more pathetic than someone who makes threats over the internet? Stop trolling my posts or I will report you. This is your last warning
@bakagami YOU again! persistent aren't we? no matter how many times i say DON'T REPLY! u still come back for more... can't u really comprehend basic english instructions? u need to go out more or learn to read even, rather than be a worthless bum who do nothing but play video games & stay "updated" on the latest games.. lmfao.. if i were u i'd stop replying if u know what's good for u & go on with your pitiful life
@digimonkey12 for a while there i thought u were that illiterate pr!ck who doesn't know when to quit.. at least there is someone like u here who actually makes sense & just sticks to the topic at hand
@zaiwen You are right. the demo is way too short. The original plan for EU was to realease it solely on PSN, so maybe the game is not that long, thus the demo being short. Yeah I also created a Hong Kong account, just to play the demo. Good thing about demos, they are still playable, once you return to your old account.
@bakagami wow u must be in the upper echelon of morons... u should take up a course in idiocy... u never learn... this is the nth time i told u NOT TO REPLY... but still u do... your ego won't let someone better get the best of u huh? i'm actually doin u a favor of saving u the embarassment... seems like u're a masochist. what a loser
@zaiwen I'm not the one with the impulse control problem. But since I have more respect for this forum & the topic, I'll not help you troll it any longer. I'll end this discussion now since I seem to be the only one who can. After your reply of course since you really seem to need to get the last word in. by the way, that avatar really suits you. see ya in the funnies :D
@zaiwen since when do I have to do what you tell me to do? at least my original post was relevant. I merely corrected you on a misconception. You're the one who flew off the handle & started with the juvenile insults. I'm merely having a bit of fun at your expense...since you invited me so politely :). If you don't want to see me replies the answer is simple. Stop replying to me...or do you not have the self control?
@bakagami u stupid or are u that stupid? i thought i told u i don't ever wanna see your name again on my inbox... can't u comprehend a simple instruction? or do u belong in the impoverished section of the society who can't afford decent education... for someone who speaks english, u are totally a dimwitted f00l.. go back to your trailer park sorry excuse for a life... i ain't wasting time no more on lowlife like u, not even worth my spit... again DON'T REPLY NOMO.
@digimonkey12 yeah the demo was great but a bit short & it was such a PITA to switch over the accounts to play it. Oh well, I've already paid off my pre-order just gotta wait till June
@zaiwen you may not need to but you keep doing it anyway. My so called lack of education, as you put it hasn't stopped me from getting the better of you. so what do you think that says? Hmm? And keep calling me names that really works for you, lol
@bakagami unlike a low class, uneducated bumazz fck such as yourself who do nothing but play video games & reply to comments to make you feel better... i don't need to read an incoherent response from an incompetent shmuck... don't ever wanna see your name on my inbox.. you are officially ignored! go home cry to mommy & ask her to buy you a video game
@zaiwen name calling now, that so cute. why my response you ask? I wasn't the one who said I had something better to do. anyway, here. this is for you: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/p480x480/552504_407067699320824_ 397191313641796_1512644_1833776307_n.jpg
@bakagami stupid fg! haha look who's talkin? then why bother yourself replyin at my comment? did i hurt your dumazz ego? get a life fggot, instead of replying to people's comments to make u feel that you're better & "always updated" about the latest games.. how pathetic.. begone
@zaiwen aww, did I hurt your widdle feelings, lol. If you got better things to do then why aren't you doing them instead of making stupid comments?
@bakagami like i give a sht about what u think or say.. i have better things to do rather than get updated on news about upcoming games all the time just so you can feel good about yourself
@zaiwen See? That just shows how little you know. Gravity Rush will be on PSN the day it is released. Just like every other PSVita title
I had tried this game at Sonystyle shop and it looks as impressive and interesting as you see on the trailer. This is one of the very first PSvita games that's graphically comparable to PS3 (Uncharted: Golden Abyss is way behind Uncharted 3 in terms of graphics, I had tried them as well).
Good Call on Sony for moving this to the VITA!! Now the Vita has a game that will make more people go buy one. This game is a definite reason I bought my VITA, but I'm just disappointed that this was pushed back till June and not a launch title like it was for Japan. Still, it's coming and it's going to be AWESOME!!
why am i not surprised? this is nothing more than a lame excuse coz u dont have any decent games at the moment... i wouldnt be surprised if gravity rush will be on psn in the coming months
Would be pretty sweet to play this on both ps3 and vita...but being just exclusive to Vita is pretty smart. Definite buy.
@ Ravenlore How would offering this on the PS3 and Vita sell more Vitas? Wouldn't Sony be more likely to sell additional Vita systems by keeping this as an exclusive?
I just wish that this game comes to PSN for download for both PS3 and Vita, buy the game and play on both systems. Yes the price will be little more than just one game, but this will get people buy the Vita.
After I saw gameplay for this game I knew that I should get a Vita, I think the art looks beautiful and the game looks great. I hope to get it in the coming months
