Atlus bringing PlayStation 2 role-playing game remake to Sony's new portable in North America later this year.
PlayStation 2 hit role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 will come to the PlayStation Vita in North America this fall as Persona 4: Golden, publisher Atlus announced today. The remake was announced for Japan last summer.
Persona 4: Golden will boast a number of updates from the 2008 PS2 game, including a new character named Mary, additional voice work, and new animated cutscenes. Additionally, the title will include a new wireless support feature that allows players to call for help when near death.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 was praised upon release for its engaging combat, great ensemble of characters, and deep storyline with multiple endings.
The only slight irritation is that the fighting game comes out first and it's set after P4, but hell they both look insanely good, P3P made me give up on FF13 XD
Great news! Hoping for a European announcement soon. I know Vita isn't regioned but I like to support domestic releases for games like this.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS >:D at least Atlus actually reaches their deadline dates with USA compared to Square Enix >< Still waiting for FF Agito XIII for like 4 years :|
@TheZorker Ya its coming to North America, Sentai Film works announced it. Anyway looks like I'm getting a VITA now :)
Say, anyone know if Persona 4: Animation has been localized for North America? I've seen the subbed ones, and it is *excellent*
@TheZorker The people making it said they are trying their hardest to acquire the same voice cast from the game. I don't know when it will actually be out, but it is coming.
I still have this game on the PS2 and I will love playing it again on the VITA. It would be nice to see Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga re-done too.
As good as the story lines tend to be for these kinds of games, I've become very tired of what are basically Japanese "interruption simulators" (in which you are trying to walk from point A to point B, but can't help but be interrupted multiple times by enemies, which eventually becomes just as annoying as being constantly interrupted by someone when you are trying to talk).
Hopefully persona will get a brake after this they are great games, but I would much rather see a hd remake of digital devil saga and devil survivor 1 was the last non persona smt that I actually liked.
*Sigh of relief* Thank god, for a while, I as worried it wasn't going to come over. @istuffedsunny: You aren't taking into recognition that one of the most friendliest and best games of all time is now begin portable, it really is something to be excited about.
@istuffedsunny We get extra content, a new character, and more for this port.any fan of the persona series would want it. But if you don't want to buy a vita no big. The people who are saying they will buy a Vita for this game, also honestly wanted a Vita in the first place.Just waiting for good games. I myself have used it for psp games i didn't own before, and i rebought MHFU to use it with dual analog sticks.
I can't believe people are excited for a port, let alone considering a $300 console for it Don't get me wrong I LOVE Persona but I'm not crazy.
There's a high likelihood we'll see a P4Arena for Vita a year or so later. With all the SMT Persona games you could play on the system, Atlus may as well release a Persona themed Vita...
For someone like me who missed out playing this game and own a Vita...this is a no brainer. This game might be old to some but it's spanking brand new to me. These enhanced re-releases work well with people who never played the original. So not only do we get a great game but also the more superior version (up for debate).
It wouldn't be a far stretch to say that this game was the sole reason I bought the VITA. So this news is a Godsend to me. Pre-ordering this ASAP.
I think there should be a rule that no remakes of any kind are ported to a console within it's first year. It's lazy and it gives off the scent of creative apathy. I'm not against them, mind you, I just think it's become a huge crutch people rely on way too much as opposed to creating proper sequels or original IPs. I don't enjoy buying the same game twice. Updating a few things doesn't sweeten the deal either, a new game designed for the system to really cash in on it's strengths would have gone a long way toward convincing me it's worth my time and money.
Yippee! Now we just need Tales of Innocence R. @DanielL5583 The PSVita is region free, so you could import it. :)
In related news, I will be finally picking up a Vita this fall now that the system will have it's first "MUST HAVE/WANT NOW" game on it. Persona 4 was such a step forward from Persona 3, which was a great game in it's own right. Can't wait to be able to have Persona 4 to play on a handhold.
@megakick - you'll be waiting a loooooooong time sine it wont be released for that console. the fighting game will, but not the original game
