The final price of the Ouya is also reported to be £99, which is slightly more expensive than the console's US price of $99 (about £61.63). The device famously raised $8.6 million from Kickstarter last year, making it one of the most successful crowdfunded projects to date.

While Ouya kits were shipped out to top-level US backers in December 2012, the Ouya website currently claims that general UK preorders will be shipped in April.

Pocket Lint's sources also state that some of the money raised from the hugely successful Kickstarter campaign is being put towards developing a version of the Ouya with support for stereoscopic 3D.

Alongside the Ouya, Nvidia this weekend announced Project Shield, its own Android-powered gaming device with the capability to stream games to your TV from your PC.
