Hate the controller idea, hate the price, hate the blocking of used games. let it use legacy controllers please. the original controller is perfect (especially with the fixed Dpad) please don't ruin a great console like this... why are all the new "features" bad things ?
Multiple sources say Xbox 360 successor being developed under working title of Colorado city, Mexican state.
Microsoft has yet to confirm an Xbox 360 successor is in the works, but that hasn't stopped a flood of speculation from pouring in concerning it. Now, new scuttlebutt suggests the code name of the next Xbox is Durango.
Multiple sources reportedly close to the Microsoft next-generation team tell Kotaku that the system is currently in development as Durango. Durango is the name of a city in Colorado, as well as a state in Mexico.
A Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot, "As an innovator we're always thinking about what is next and how we can push the boundaries of technology like we did with Kinect. We believe the key to extending the life span of a console is not just about the console hardware, but about the games and entertainment experiences being delivered to consumers. Beyond that we don't comment on rumors or speculation."
As for the next Xbox, speculation has run wild as to its form, capabilities, release date, and price. The latest rumors say the Xbox 360 successor could boast a tablet controller, play Blu-ray discs, block used games, and cost as much as $500.

i totally agree if it blocks used i will buy something else; here's hoping steambox comes out soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
A bit off subject, but being from CO I just have to say that Durango sucks big time. Funny that they mentioned the city in this article. lol.
If this new Xbox were to have a low failure rate (RROD, disk scratching, etc.) then Microsoft's next console would be at the top of the gaming [market]; maybe even go through lengths to even beat Nintendo!
.... nothing wrong with my 360, have enjoyed the console since 06. Not since the dreamcast have I only needed 1 console hope microsoft does it again. I only buy every console if none of them can deliver the kind of gaming experience i want.
One flaw about used games is that if someone can get a game used for 15 dollars instead of 60 they might buy it. If they had to buy the game for 60 new they might not. So all those used game sales do not directly mean you lost that much money like they always claim.
What if you bought a game and you don't like it? What happens? What's going to happen to those online sites giving you opportunities to rent games?
Because when i think of Video Games i think of poorly made American automobiles.. Well, considering this is Xbox i guess it makes sense.
Lol, Durango? Seriously? You know for once I am glad these code names never stick. Usually the "Katana" or "Revolution" or, my personal favorite "Project Reality" .....But "Durango"? Stupid style of jeans, probably a crappy city in CO, and... well... the last one is in Mexico. Nothing against Mexicans though, I just hate that section of the globe based on climate and available luxuries.
i had thoughts about this but that means no more renting/borrowing games but as long as 360 games are still made im ok
LMAO! 500 bucks for an unreliable kids toy that blocks used games? I would definitely get this over a high end video card...
@twyz "The code-name should be "Canyonero". " LMFAO! Like that simpson's Pick-UP truck! Wow what an accurate image :D
I doubt it will block used games, if that is the case, they are going to cripple themselves next gen...
They want to block used games because it costs them cash..If you sell it to gamestop..They can turn around and sell it for 30 bucks instead of full price 60 bucks..Hence they will loose cash..Its pathetic how far the game industry has come..Im afraid download digitol is the way of the future for these people;..Why because you can only download it once..They think its pirate proof..Its not steam got hit last year...So we shall see what happens in this next gen..Ill take a blue ray player in my xbox..Dont want a gimicky tablet kind of device..Stop copying nintendo xbox..Go with your own thing..
@Barighm if they even think they will go digital the systems would have to sell for 20 bucks and basically just be a controller that wirelessly connects to your tv or comp then connect to their server.
@Barighm no not anytime soon. the psp go already proved that digital suck arse. not to mention the current way things are the world isn't anywhere near ready for download only gaming. people aren't going to buy consoles for digital only games anyway. once everything goes digital consoles will go the way of the dinosaurs.
as long as it doesn't have a tablet controller and it doesn't go to full streaming i'll be satisfied. however, it's still a little early for a new system, the 360 still has so much left to offer.
and I thought the Wii U was a dumb name, who wants an Xbox Durango? I mean maybe they should take nintendo's idea for the revolution because it's clearly to cool a name for nintendo to give to one of their systems. That and 1 revolution = 360 degrees so it kind of makes sense. I don't give a crap about console hardware next gen I just want games that are more moddable than many now. Games like Assassin's Creed have to use a stupid custom file format so the players can't mod it to make it better. Same with Mass Effect. Why can't they just make it more moddable like skyrim?
Y'know, why is it lately everywhere I go I just find people freaking out about something extremely small, unimportant, and odds are not even what they think seeing as the freak out is over your interpretation versus reality.
@strebis6 : You can replace this Blu-ray reader quite easily, it's not even that expansive, costs as much as a new game. It also happened to me, once. Just check on the internet for where to go fix it on your country. No need to spend 200 bucks on a new console if you can spend 50 and keep yours.
It is a horrible idea to block used games, if Microsoft or gaming companies want money for used games, make it so you need a pass to play online (if it has MP) like GoW 3
@OmegaGear Yeah, AMD does have the market cornered when it comes to naming hardware. Oh, and their graphics cards are pretty good too.
"The latest rumors say the Xbox 360 successor could boast a tablet controller, play Blu-ray discs, block used games, and cost as much as $500." my response to these rumors: "meh, yay, boo, could be worse....$700 :P"
Blocking used games? So what happens when you finish it and are done, does the game just melt away? Microsoft have an environmental responsibility NOT to do this.
I don't think the Nextbox will so much block used games as it will be an all digital platform. In which case, used games no longer matter. If they have a Blu-ray player, it will be for movies and that's it. I think Sony will do the same thing. Sorry, but all evidence points that way. There is a better disc storage medium out there, but nobody is getting excited about it the way they did Blu-ray. In contrast, publishers are pouring billions of dollars into creating digital distribution models. Like it or not, digital is the future kiddies.
As previously stated, this is a rumor about a rumor. And for those complaining about the idea of block used games, that won't happen. Only EA has been pushing for that, wanting to charge a fee for every used game to be able to access DLC and any updates. It's fact they've discussed it but nobody, not even MS, has confirmed features such as that.
