"I'm a fan. I like the idea, it seems to be a playful idea, and I'm gonna be fascinated to see how that evolves," Molyneux told Joystiq. "Until they make a game and I can get my hands on it… then maybe I'll think to myself 'Oh God why did they do this and that?' But at the moment I'm intrigued and fascinated."

Unlike past entries in the series, Fable Legends will be multiplayer-focused game that features four-player co-op in an "online world." A fifth player can take the role of a villain, viewing Fable Legends from a top-down perspective and can play the game from a SmartGlass tablet.

Lionhead Studios lead designer Ted Timmins told GameSpot at E3 in June that Molyneux remains a friend of the studio. Timmins said Molyneux played Xbox 360 game Fable Anniversary and gave it a "thumbs up."

Fable Legends does not have a release date, though Lionhead has confirmed a beta for the game will begin in 2014. Meanwhile, Fable Anniversary is set to release on Xbox 360 in February 2014.
