Madden NFL 13 sells 900,000 in 24 hours

I struggle to understand how anyone would drop the full price in money on a game that will be utterly and embarrassingly obsolete about the middle of the year following and WORTHLESS by the next holiday season...LEAST of all for a sports game!

of course theyll sell that much, madden's the only nfl game in existence. its not like people have much of a choice, lol.

In other news about 850000 copies of Madden 12 have shown up in used bins across the country to about 10 bucks.  What is it with football fans needing to grab madden day one and never buying used.

Why wouldn't they sell 900,000 copies...its not like they have competition...

I used to purchase Madden every year but stopped with the new console generation because I felt the game had been ruined.  I still check it out every year, but refuse to waste money on it until it appears to be something I'll enjoy again.

That said, I'm amazed every year when they release the news that sales figures have gone up yet again.  I mean, I'm as big a football fan as anyone, but I just can't believe people keep spending money on this game.  If you enjoy it, cool, go ahead.......but, like me, I always hear so many others complaining about how awful it has gotten over recent years.  But somehow more and more people purchase it every year.  Unfortunately I think this trend will prevent them from innovating in the future or even fixing the main issues with the game since.....well.....they don't have to.  People will buy it no matter what..........

Wow 900,000?  I haven't bought a madden game since '08

I never buy Madden each year. I usually buy one every 2 - 3 years. The last Madden I had was '09...It's about time that I pick one up.

EA sells 900,000 copies of Madden......Gamers realize they removed the standard offline Franchise Mode from the game.......Half of the sold games are returned. I waited 3 years since buying it and the game plays great, but for Franchise to not be in it is an EPIC FAIL on EA's part.

They didn't just update the roster in Madden 13 it is alot different than 12 and I know cause I own both games. All you haters are just mad cause Madden is actually doing good this year.

How sad the only reason this game sells is because its the only football game out, but people keep buying it keeping EA rich while they give out a repeated product

Same with FIFA/PES etc in the UK - although to be fair I think this year's FIFA does look worth a buy!

It just show you, poor reviews, and redundant game play doesn't stop some from buying a game with a famous title.

What really pisses me off is that Ive bought these games since 2K Football ended, and every year they add something I like but take out something else I like. Add that thing back in with a new name and label it as a defining feature, then they take out something else I liked. I think the problem is they are too afraid to make one really good game, because if they do, everyone will buy it, but the next year they wont sell as many, because it truly will become a roster update... what they dont realize is that they can then reduce their price to $20 and make minor tweaks and make a fortune!! Or just charge for annual updates...

You poor saps. I bought Madden 10 and Madden 11 and they were both incredibly crap. EA owes me a game IMO. This demo didn't show me anything to convince me that the legacy problems have been addressed thoroughly.

I would have bought a HiRes txt/DX 11 PC version ... but PC - that's not EA Sports' game anymore.

It's like opening a candy shop, of course it will sell but that does not mean it will be good for you.

It's funny people criticize Madden for coming out with an updated game each year... but they are absolutely willing to pay 15 bucks a month to play the same World of Warcraft (which would total 180 bucks a year), fork over 40-60 bucks for an updated Tekken game with more characters, and repurchase Final Fantasy games every time there is the slightest graphical update.  Of course, most Madden players won't defend their purchase on Gamespot because they are busy enjoying their game for the next 3-12 months.

The Madden games are considered a measurement of how well the industry is going, it said in a previous Gamespot article and according to this it's going well. I've never been interested in sports games, so I don't know why so many people buy games that for me looks like a copy-paste from last years version with not much added. I like games that allow you to do stuff you can't/could never do in real life. Anyway, I guess this is a good sign and hopefully this means we won't get Michael Pachter or some other know-it-all professing doom and gloom and scaring executives into making even worse decisions than they are already making.

I just don't get it. All people do is complain about Madden and then run right out to the nearest Best Buy and get it the day it comes out. Lemmings!

though i wont be buying this on the hardware in your front room i welcome the addition to the vita. Still play 2k one on the dream-cast with its fantastic presentation and commentary. Now i can play on the move, does anyone know if it ll be cross play ??

Madden, Call of Duty, Bose, Beats, Apple, Monster Cable, are all brands that exemplify the stupidity of people and how they're willing to buy anything with a name on it.

IGN gave this game a 9. That's all people on the fence needed to go grab this one. EA can thank thank Greg Miller for the boost in sales.

I'd buy it, but since it's already been our for a day I figure it's probably getting a little out-dated so I'll just wait for the next one which comes out, what, next month?
