Halo 4 bundled with two weeks of XBL

Microsoft's upcoming shooter comes packed with two weeks of Xbox Live Gold, 343 Industries developer reveals.
Gamers who unwrap Halo 4 worldwide next week will find a code for two weeks of Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft has revealed. 343 Industries designer David Ellis said on Twitter that such an offering may be a first for any Microsoft title.
"In fact it comes with two weeks of Live. Which I believe is a first," Ellis said.
Halo 4 is due exclusively for Xbox 360 on November 6 worldwide. The game is a direct sequel to 2007's Halo 3 and is the first numbered entry in the series developed outside of Bungie Studios. It is the first installment in the Reclaimer Trilogy, which will span Halo 5 and Halo 6.
A recent Nielsen study found Halo 4 to be the most anticipated holiday 2012 title for Xbox 360 owners. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's review.

Anyone remember the old Xbox LIVE solicits in games? i have NBA2K9 and it had a 2 day trial. same for fable, and probably Alan Wake or Halo 3. that is nothing more than 6 days! what is a person going to do with 6 days of Live? heck, i have the 12 month subscription and i do not even play THAT much!
@Cyanide4Suicid3 They're still doing a Season Pass thing, which irritates me. I don't usually buy DLC except for games I *REALLY* love, or ones that are clearly worth the money (Rockstar's DLC packs usually fall into this category). But I forgive them for giving us 9 weeks (+ Day 1) of Spartan Ops content.
@Stiler @patrick5152003 That's right. It was only a couple days. I haven't had Live in a while so a couple weeks is a good enough amount time to determine if I'm gonna fork over more money.

This is good for when my Xbox Live expires next March, I will get an additional two weeks. :)
For online console gaming, I prefer to use Xbox Live. I like the features of it and I have been using it ever since I signed up. Of course, when it gets too expensive, I will be done with it.

A. You bought a PS3.
B. You payed for Xbox Live
C. You bought a PC.

A. You got some exclusive, but games like Skyrim can't have DLC
B. You get Halo 4
C. You can have anything you want (besides Halo 4)

343 really seems to be M$ b**** in contrast to other studios that have come and gone. Every time I read a new article, it's just like they are being lead around by the nose and a completely "Yes-Man" mentality to "the Suits."
I hope Halo 4 delivers, but then again there is little chance Halo 4 won't deliver considering 343 are using Bungie's created big selling massive Game IP, using Bungie's Halo Engine, using Bungie's Halo Assets, and using some ex-Bungie Employees that jumped ship.
@Ultra_Taco It's dropping, currently the lowest a "main" Halo game has had on Metacritic, with an 88/100. So, 343 aren't quite Bungie. but they delivered a Halo game for the masses to be sure.

Looks like 343 is doing just fine, although I wonder how the metascore will perform against Bungie's metascore of Reach, Halo 1-2-3.
Nice to see gamespot has not gone along with the "Halo 4: King of the Hill Fuled by Dew." Yes, "fuled." bandwagon.

they will. Its Microsoft so they will screw you out of every little dime and penny you have. Perfect to spend money on online service when half the time its at Microsoft for "repairs".

And it was only at repairs for roughly a month.
Not to mention sending it to repairs was all paid by microsoft, in other words i made money by having to send my xbox to repairs.
@Diamondsoulz The 720 will charger for Xbox Live and I'm sure they will increase the price mid-gen, if not at launch.
They make billions on advertisements revenue, game sales, movie sales, show sales, music sales, Bing hits, and of course charging users online to let that go.

Anyway, if I put that code in, would that replace my current subscription and let me remove the registered payment option? Because I can't do that since it's tied to an "active subscription" despite me having turned off auto renewal.
@McStrongfast Nah, they came with 48 hour, limited passes.
Since it's a game code, I'm not sure if it will just add on or not, so your best bet would just be to wait until your current one goes out and then throw in that code.
It's a smart move. I only really got into xbox live gold because of a free trial. People will rarely pay for something they haven't tried. And multiplayer is pretty addictive, so It'll guarantee a few more subscriptions.
i dont think they are complaining about the free time, more like why the hell do i have to pay a subscription to enjoy most of the games on the xbox
@justinka777 because microsoft is focusing on bringing apps to xbox live rather than xbox exclusive's. that's why you have to pay for it. microsoft has little to no exclusives outside of halo, gears of war , and forza.
@Gen007 I do enjoy the campaign mode unlike other mindless military shooters. I have had XBL subscriptions in the past, but usually they ended up going to waste. Otherwise, I'd just switch to my PS3 or PC for some real multiplayer gaming.
@Gen007 Not really I let my live run out after reach came out because I hated its MP compared to halo3 and since I have a PC and PS3 as well haven't needed a gold subscription So these 2 weeks will allow halo4 to try and impress me back onto my Xbox

7 Like Halo 4 coming with 2 weeks of Xbox live. Seems like a good way to promote the MP part of the game. This is one game that has on-line that I actually enjoy. So a nice "Throw in" I'm all about the throw ins. Halo 4 will set the usual records.

People usually have Gold membership already when getting a game like Halo. This is a nice little buffer if yours runs out though.
Good practice MS. Give the kids a taste of the "good thing" for free. Later, they will come back for more.

if mmo was on xbox you'll be paying XBL fee as well as the subscription fee for the game. why are you bringing mmo into this? he's talking about the basic multiplayer feature here. you don't pay for mutiplayer on PS3 and PC.
