Anyone who says they aren't going to get this game, I'd like to talk to you. Maybe you don't want it because you don't fully understand something. 'Cause really, there is no reason not to want this.
ArenaNet's long-awaited fantasy online game arriving later this year, open beta kicks off in two months.
Gamers eager to leap into ArenaNet's fantasy massively multiplayer online game Guild Wars 2 have been waiting for a while to do so. The game was first announced in 2007 and at one time was planned for a 2011 release. Today, the developer offered a new release window for the game, saying Guild Wars 2 will arrive in 2012.
In a new post on the ArenaNet blog, company founder and president Mike O'Brien said, "It's been an incredible adventure over the past five years…this year, the seeds of that work come to fruition."
According to O'Brien, ArenaNet will begin to invite gamers to a beta for the game beginning in March and will expand the trial phase to a wider audience in April.
Guild Wars 2 puts players into a persistent fantasy world that is driven by a range of dynamic events. When Guild Wars 2 launches later this year it will cost a fee up front but will not require a monthly paid subscription to continue playing.
I'd pay monthly for this... just saying. Finally, an mmo with slick animations. And no longer will I have to murder numerous rodents and return their skulls to big walls of dialogue I'll never read.
This will technically be my first MMO. GW2 sounds amazing! And no monthly fee makes it even better! :D
"The title of the video above is really misleading...it was obviously meant to say "Guild Wars 2 - Underwater Sexy - Sexplay (PC)"." in the Youtube comments...lol. Funny 'cause it's true. :P
Woow it's wow killer everyone tell like ppl were talking about swtor, nothing new damn we need some inovation in MMO games.
ok already right at the beginning of the video I want something changed .... don't outline what we are attacking or give us the opportunity to shut that off as I really don't want to see an outline around the target still this looks awesome !!!!! I want to play NOW !!!!!
Looks good, unfortunately I'm sick of sword-and-sorcery MMOs and I certainly never liked the anime style in GW. I'm sure it will do fine though.
@megakick Funny you should say that since since the people working on Tera where working on Lineage 3 and stole all their code and tech and made Tera XD.
@Tripwolf I never got nickle and dime with the first game, all you bought in the store was connivance. There was nothing in the store that you could not get in game, and getting it game was not even that hard.
Wait, didn't they say the closed beta started a month ago? The people who didn't believe it were actually right?
and all this was for 5 years aggo .. even Aions "epic" areal fights.. it all was in good, playable version in Perfect World... and it still is + its F2p :DD
@adilejaz its not going to be completly open to everyone...how they are going to do it is they are going to have beta weekend events. I believe you will be able to sign up for them soon here, prolly within the next month.
O M G! This is the biggest piece of gaming news since they announced the game years back! Happy days. :-)
so amazing..............I can't wait! hope I have the money and the time for this when it finally comes ;P kinda funny how it seems like everything can swim....even random pirates.... wonder if there will be some human NPC's that will stay on land only
YES! Boya, I can't wait for GW2 Also this gives me enough time to get myself some stuff in the HoM with my GW1 character.
@BrunoBRS as far as I'm aware GW1 players from the beta have been able to play their characters in the full game aswell, so i'm pretty sure they'll do the same here :D
ever since this was rumored a very long time ago i have been keeping up with the news, keeping up with how the game is being made and why its being mad this way, and when i found out that its coming this year all i can think of is Guild wars 2, i have a feeling this is gona be a quick year for me
@Tripwolf nickle and dimed? I dont get it, an expansion possibly every 6 months or so...alot of Sub based MMOs do that. And the micro transactions arnt required and dont give you any type of advantage over others, its pretty much purely cosmetic. Players now days have had their minds brainwashed by big companies saying that Sub based games are required for AAA MMOs due to the costs of servers and such...when in reality servers and maintenance is very cheap now days. Unlike in the EQ days. There is a video on youtube that goes into detail about it all...search for "Guild Wars 2: WTF No Subscription Fee? " on youtube.
Thought GW was the best thing in the world, bought all the add-ons and participated in all the events during my run. Stopped playing for about a year, went to go get back on my account was deactivated, NCSoft never reactivated it no matter what information I gave them. Will not be playing GW2.
@DashRender619 How is it a grindfest when you hit the level cap long before you even complete half the quests?
@ Tripwolf Isn't a subscription based service nickle and diming also? In comparison to SW:TOR, not only did they charge $50 retail value (or was it $60?) they have the nerve to charge $15/month! Subscription models simply are getting too expensive in our current economy. We're living in a new Internet age where games are increasingly becoming free to play. League of Legends is an excellent example. Regardless, I can't fault a game, like Guild Wars 2, at least charging a retail value. They're a business and have to make money. At least their developers recognize the subscription model does not work!
@wolfgang_2k4, yeah, MMO graphics always look dated. Between trying to appeal to the folks who bought computers with a $10 chip instead of a graphics card and having to deal with scores of unique looking players in view at the same time, they always end up looking pretty sad in the graphics department.
@Tripwolf True. I remember being absolutely nickle and dimed to death throughout my years playing GW, which had the same payment structure. /sarcasm
At least we're getting months unlike some other company who's making a game that rhymes with Bleeablo Tree
Already kind of bored of SWTOR. I'm hoping this game delivers. It's my last hope for a Blizzard alternative.
