Gotham City Impostors public beta hits PSN, XBL

Pre-release trial for downloadable DC Comics-themed shooter now available for all PlayStation 3 users; Xbox Live version requires sign-up.

PlayStation 3 gamers eager to jump into Gotham City Impostors can download an open beta for the game today, but the beta Xbox 360 players will have to settle for is an impostor of sorts.

The Gotham City Impostors public beta is available to all PlayStation Network users today from the PS3's virtual storefront. However, Xbox 360 players will need to do a little more work to enter the trial period. Players on Microsoft's console need to sign up at the game's website to receive a beta key. Developer Monolith said Xbox 360 registrants would only have "a chance to receive a key." A PC beta was not mentioned.

Developed by Seattle-based F.E.A.R. creator Monolith, Gotham City Impostors is "Batman with guns," according to its developer. However, as fans know, Batman doesn't usually wield guns. Thus, Impostors casts players as citizens of Gotham City who are inspired by either Batman or The Joker.

The game was originally scheduled to arrive for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on January 10. However, Monolith said feedback gathered from the game's beta pushed the developer to delay the game to February, its current release window.

This game has sharp controls and fun gameplay,
Theirs 2 game types which were both pretty fun. And 2 maps with up to 10 players which seems small,
but the board is small so your always right in the action.
If this is released for around 15$ it's worth a buy.

I played a couple rounds just a little while ago.....not sure if i like it or not yet. There seems to be enough people playing and I saw a couple lvl 12+ players already.....
I need to devote some time to the game but I'm kinda watching the first season of Starhunter right now.....good Show, low budget but well written story, low grade effects but I kinda like that about it and it stars Michael Paré from Edie & The Cruisers fame.....

I had the beta for a while now. I dont even waste my time playing it. I was lucky to find a game with 4 players in it. And the game still wont start until 8 players are in the game. And with all that difficulty in finding a match, they expect you to level up and unlock costumes? They give you like 66 coins per match. And it takes like 1500 coins to buy 1 pair of pants. And they expect you to customize your joker AND batman character. And they dont share pants! so you gotta buy another pair of pants for your another character. and shirt. And gloves. And shoes! And hair! And mask! WTF

I'm apart of the PS3 and 360 Beta for this game, it's pretty neat. Good to see more people are going to be included in trying the Gotham City Imposters Beta.

To be clear, this is a CHANCE to get a key for 360, and you have to give them your e-mail address (presumably for game-related spam purposes) first.

I got the beta key last month, couldn't find a single game in matchmaking. Will try it again.

looks like a mix between tf2 with cod mechanics, i hate this downloadable multiplayer only games tho they seem pointless to me you can get the same, even better experience with most fps retail games today (i jst randomly picked up crysis 2 and it has much better multi then this, and includes a proper campaign)
