EA Sports UFC skipping current-gen
Publisher says upcoming fighting game coming only to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, will release around May 2014.
EA Sports UFC won't be available on current-generation consoles, Wii U, or PC.
Today during Electronic Arts' Gamescom 2013 media briefing, the company said the upcoming fighting game is in development only for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
An EA representative confirmed with GameSpot that EA Sports UFC will be exclusive to next-generation consoles.
"The game will use the Ignite Engine technology which allows us to do amazing things, but only on Gen 4!" the company said.
Also during the briefing, the company confirmed that EA Sports UFC is "about nine months from hitting the shelves," putting the game's release at around May 2014.
The first gameplay footage for EA Sports UFC was shown during the briefing, though it was pre-alpha video. The game will utilize an "enormous" variety of strikes," EA said.
