EA's response to being named Consumerist Worst Company. (Parody?)
EA named worst company in America by Consumerist
Mass Effect, FIFA publisher knocks out Bank of America in 2012 final round with 64 percent of 250,000+ user votes on consumer affairs blog.
Mass Effect, FIFA, and The Sims publisher Electronic Arts is the worst company in the United States, according to the results of more than 250,000 votes on consumer affairs blog The Consumerist. EA knocked out Bank of America in the final round to secure the title, winning the site's "Golden Poo" award.
To reach the final round of The Consumerist's Worst Company in America challenge, EA beat out Best Buy, Sony, AT&T, and Comcast, while Bank of America took down Citibank, Ticket Master, Wal-Mart, and Chase. In the final round, Consumerist voters hated on EA with 64 percent of the total vote.
In a statement provided to GameSpot, EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg said, "We're sure that bank presidents, oil, tobacco, and weapons companies are all relieved they weren't on the list this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide."
Reseburg pointed to several initiatives EA is partaking in that he said highlight the publisher's efforts to engage with consumers in "more meaningful ways." He said the Human Rights Campaign is presently distributing a petition supporting EA for its decision to include same-sex relationships in Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3.
Reseburg also mentioned that BioWare made it to the final round of a "Best Developer" competition held by The Escapist recently and brought up the fact that EA Sports is running user-voted contests for NCAA Football 13, NHL 13, and Madden NFL 13. He said 23 million votes have been cast for the three games.
