E3 2012 draws 45,700, brings in $40 million

"The LACC has hosted all but two E3s in the show's 18-year history" It's always fun when a convention is older than some of it's target audience or the ones likely to be interested in it.

I hope some of that money went to game developers. Especially to the ones who have been laid off. Give them hope and some peace of mind.

e3 suck cuz appel didnt not get there own perss conference cuz if they did the they wuold have blowed it out the water cuz nitedno sucks and ipohne has pretty much taked over any nitedno systam

I hope E3 comes to the east coast!

First, I think the ESA should move E3 to a different city. Frankly, I think they should rotate it between lots of different cities, but since they're not going to do that, they should at least consider moving to somewhere that might actually make it reasonable for gamers in different regions to attend. Forget the crybabies in the industry who act like traveling off the west coast scares them..

Secondly, everybody that is complaining about how "meh" the conference was needs to consider that we've done this to ourselves. We scour our favorite sites looking for rumors and insider scoops about products that haven't been announced yet, but then we whine and moan when the big convention comes and there's nothing left to surprise us. It's our own fault.

Frankly I think we're all so jaded that anything less than two new console announcements would be a disappointment to gamers these days. And even then we probably would have all the details before the first company executive took the stage...

It's true, E3 wasn't the best this year. But that doesn't mean quality products weren't shown. Ubisoft's press conference was awesome; the best of the convention. But the best game of E3 in my opinion? Planetside 2 by far. TotalBiscuit's streams of the game made the convention more than awesome for me.

Glad to see that I was not the only person who felt that this year's E3 was kinda bland compared to previous ones. All announcements about games I was interested in were pretty much a rehash of what I've been reading up to date. Too bad because I always look forward to it every year.  The one thing that looked cool was the Wii U and the demo of Zombiu. Hopefully they stop trying to appeal to casual gamers and get developers interested in more serious titles. 

If there had been any teasers about the new Xbox or PS it would have peaked my interest. That and I was hoping for some announcement that Alan Wake 2 was also coming to the 360. If it is only on the 720 then my next hope would be for a PC release.

This years e3 was a meh thing for me being a ps3 and wii user. Nothing new or exciting unv ieled by Sony other than games which I already knew months before e3. Only good thing was the wiiU which was like the only spark in a dull convention that just flew by for an avid gamer like me. What a whimper compared to last year

Should hold it at the O2 Arena in UK, might as well get some use out of the place : )

Which other city can host an event as big as E3? I mean, the number of halls you need for press conferences. Las Vegas?

I hate it when they refer to Gamers as 'Geeks'.

There was a lot of recyled content and legacy games being brought back (MechWarrior & CounterStrike) The legacy games and so forth are not a bad thing but only $45 million? You would doulbe that income if you would let the public attend.

This year's E3 was pretty low on impact. I pretty much skipped it due to how lackluster it was.

Hopefully next year will have the big impact E3 used to have among gamers.

There's no surprises anymore.

If some of the bigger games like Resident Evil 6, AC3 and Dead Space 3 weren't announced earlier, it would have been much more exciting. 

But lately, we've known about pretty much every game coming into E3, so it's not as big of a deal anymore.

So people interested in games and technologies are geeks?

Kinda ho-hum to me.  It's an industry event, not a consumer event.

its pretty weird that i live like 10 mins away from the la convention center yet i never attended an e3 event and others around the country or world would attend i might have to attend one in the following years.

E3 will stay West Coast. The only other convention center that MAY hold this many attendees would be Anaheim, I doubt that though. Other possibilities would be San Diego or Nor Cal, heck even Vegas would be a temporary solution.

If or when LA does get a football team, E3 will have to relocate for 3-5 years. As it stands there is no commitment from ANY NFL team to come back to LA...

Another upside of bringing Farmers Field here in LA: Even though E3 will have to be somewhere else for a year or 2, it will come back to LA with a vastly improved convention center and even use the stadium as additional space. : )

I prefer beef-on-the-plate instead of hype-fests... but whatever...

This year was the most boring i've  witnessed hopefully next year will be better

The Stanley Cup was held right across the street of E3, how much did that bring into LA as well?

I haven't found E3 exciting in a number of years.  This entire generation E3 has been pretty ho-hum but fanboys will always find a reason to be excited about their chosen platform so that it will somehow validate their enjoyment of games. 

A pretty good E3, I bet next year's will be much much more exciting.
