Psychonauts with guns....At least it probably won't have those atrociously difficult platforming sections.
Aspyr Media to publish Mindware Studios' horror-themed first-person shooter later this year.
Outside of soldiers, athletes, and city planners, few professions are readily adapted to games. Czech developer Mindware Studios and Texas-based publisher Aspyr Media are taking a stab at adding psychologist to the list later this year with the release of Dreamkiller on the Xbox 360 and PC.
A first-person shooter, Dreamkiller puts players in the role of Alice Drake, a supernatural psychologist with the unique ability to enter her patients' minds and fight their inner demons in the most literal sense. Drake will traverse the game's 12 levels not with textbooks and theory, but with an arsenal of special abilities and dual-purpose weapons, such as a minigun that also lobs grenades at enemies.
Dreamkiller is set for an October debut. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's hands-on impressions.
This sounds absolutely horrible. I agree with those of you saying it would better suit adventure/mystery genre. This is just too implausible and contrived.
i like how there seems to be a trend towards more surreal games. be a long time before they get like paprika though.
Wow this game sounds really cool. It also sounds unique. Since your in peoples minds/imagination anything can happen.
Alice Drake, a supernatural psychologist with the unique ability to enter her patients' minds and fight their inner demons in the most literal sense. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sounds like a crazy game !!!
@okassar, PC people don't really like games developed cross platform cos it's telling of a few things for example the graphics won't be as decent as they cud of been, also any game u have to press Space or Enter to start, u know is a cross platform. Like in Prototype also for PC, it has no GFX options, such cross platform crap.
Sounds interesting, but something worries me: the story sounds more appropriate for and adventure game. How will they justify the use of weapons? Will each weapon have a psychology related theory that makes it stronger against certain problem/enemy? That would be nice. I'll be checking it when it's released for sure, even if I don't like shooters too much.
dexter_safe Do you enjoy picking on a console, does it make you feel big. Whenever I see people like you posting that lecherous garbage it makes me wish I wasn't a pc gamer as well... But unlike you, I have appreciation for what consoles offer... which pretty much sums up as you and your kind just being a petty trash spewing and ignorant class of "gamers." That's a little too generous, actually calling your kind gamers. You pc gamers that insult other forms of gamers should be called "Masochist communist pigs." You and that other idiot Earlthecannibal can be the leader members of the MCP... Oh and I already know that gamespot is going to look at this and give the usual crap for when a console owner speaks their mind against the pc community, so, I'm going to be posting this to forums that don't have a biased opinion. In other words, gamespot let's pc gamers get away with this crap, but if a console owner does it... bang they take action...
Loved 'Pain Killer' on my PC, ingenious weapon systems, VERY large bosses, gonna keep my eye on this.
ofcourse it's going to look 10 times better on pc cuz 360 is just a mid-end pc maybe......... oh it's a microsoft exlusive so would come to pc aswell.
i don't like the game that has a woman main character like perfect dark zero & dark mirror...i'm not playing both of those game at all thought
Alright, this game sounds creative and it seems like if it actually becomes what they are making it out to be and has the right controls and graphics and everything,I'll buy it.But come on,I don't like when people cheer that something is not on another system.I have the 360,and I could get this game when it comes out,but why would I,even in the slightest,be happy that it's not coming out on the PS3 and that less people get to enjoy the game?Same applies to fanboys on the other 2 sides when the same thing happens to them. For God's sake...
This idea was in the back of my mind since years.............. And yep Aspyr made a game on this idea, The idea is great, I hope they make something great out of it.........
the plot sounds interesting, the gameplay pretty much predictable if it is an old-school FPS; i like FPS, lets c what else can writers imagination do; ill play it anyways
Looks to be like a fast paced old school FPS, similar to Painkiller, Quake 1 and pre Doom 3. If it is, I'll play it.
@the game's visuals based off the screenshot I've seen Somehow I'm reminded of Prey I don't know why. Not that that's a bad thing I mean it was an original and interesting game around the time of its initial release.
@gijerky Which is odd I mean they've got The Conduit right? They'll defend it (The Conduit) to the bitter end on its forums but no mention here?
"This is an awesome new style and viewpoint for a game... and it's just a standard shooter." Boring.
Kinda funny how even though the Wiimote's design makes it perfectly ideal for these kinds of games, very few FPS's are being designed for the system, and the majority of them are very poor in terms of quality.
Sweet sounds like a mixture of the "Turok" weapons meets "Alice in Wonderland" style hell. All awesome on that boat when it comes a-float.
@_JPH_ Edit 3 now You got three thumbs down, so the question is which idiots gave you a thumbs down? Anyways, you shouldn't really care if people thumb you down, who cares what they think? Think about it this way... you could of posted that before they changed it...and... you know what screw it, just some troll.
supernatural person solving other people mental problem from the inside? sounds like an adult version of psychonauts to me. i would bet that psychonauts is better than this.
Ah now it has been changed after I wrote my first comment, and I got a thumbs down? Which idiot gave me a thumbs down?
