Disney's game group is back in black. The company's Interactive division saw revenues rise 4 percent to $291 million for the three-month period ended December 29. Net income hit $9 million, substantially better than the loss of $28 million the group posted this time last year.

Disney said higher operating results were driven by lower acquisition accounting impacts at the group's social game business and growth at the company's Japanese mobile business as a result of a new licensing agreement for Disney-branded mobile phones and content.

Disney last month made two sizable announcements. The House of Mouse revealed its new "toys-to-life" game Disney Infinity and also shut down Epic Mickey developer Junction Point Studios. The first entry in the Disney Infinity series is due out this summer on consoles and mobile devices.
