Destiny preorder page lists Xbox 720, PS4
Source code on Bungie's website for upcoming game includes Xbox 720, PS4, PC, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U.
Bungie's Destiny may be headed to platforms beyond Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the only two consoles the company has concretely announced the game for. The developer's preorder page (via Nintendo Life) lists unannounced platforms for Destiny in its source code, including Xbox 720, PS4, PC, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U.
It is possible these listings are merely placeholders. However, Activision's announcement of Destiny this week said Bungie's new "next-generation game engine" would allow the title to release for Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as "other future console platforms."
Neither Bungie nor Activision was immediately available to comment.
Sony is holding a New York City media event tomorrow night where the company is widely expected to announce the PlayStation 4. GameSpot will be in attendance, and the event will be live-streamed.
Bungie's Destiny is a new intellectual property and the studio's first project as part of a ten-year publishing arrangement with Activision. The game--not due until 2014 at the earliest--is set in a distant future and casts players as Guardians of the last city of Earth. It has been described by Activision as the world's first "shared-world shooter."
